Hector, Caspar or Hugo?

For our second DS, born at the weekend. DS1 is Reuben, DD is Clara.

Hector or Hugo. I love Hugo.

Hugo is lovely. DH refuses to use it. I love it! Not so keen on Hector or Caspar, sorry!

Hector!!

Such a fantastic name and it puts the other two names firmly in the shade. Caspar and Hugo are both super posho and a bit wet.

The meaning of Hector (bully, tormentor) would put me off, sorry. As would the lack of nicknames (Heck..?).

I like both Caspar and Hugo, but slightly prefer Caspar. What's wrong with 'super posho' - better than super chavo !

DH isn't keen on Hugo because of its posh reputation... Didn't think that Caspar was a posho name though...?

I'm intrigued as to how a name can be posh - surely it is the person that determines whether someone is posh, chav or whatever. There must be all sorts of people named Hugo, posh and otherwise...

Seems such a strange British obsesson, this 'labelling' of names rather than people...

I don't think Casper goes that well with your other children's names, either of the other two names would work though, think I prefer Hector but like them both

To hector/hectoring has such a terrible meaning that I would hate to use it to name my child.

Hugo is nice but I'm less keen on the Heeeooo sound at the beginning. Prefer a normal 'h' as in Henry, Hector or hug.

Caspar is the best from your suggestions.

I don't either get the obsession with names being 'posh' or 'common' as most names start off posh and then become popular. Names like Sebastian, Quentin, Henry, Clementine, Arabella were all seen as 'too posh' only a few years ago - now they seem fairly normal (well, where we are anyway ).

I like Caspar best from your list and I think it goes nicest with your other dc's names.

I don't think Hugo is posh anymore. It's just broken into the top 100.

I think I'd probably go for Hugo, then Hector.

I wouldn't like Clara and Caspar together (especially when there's just one child with the odd initial out).
