No. Please no.

YouHaveBeenOutbid · 29/09/2013 21:14

This has got to be a wind up surely?! Don't.

SirChenjin · 29/09/2013 21:17

Merrrrrrrr-linnnnnnnnnnn

Sorry - couldn't get the voiceover for the series out of my head!

No. Please don't.

Thurlow · 29/09/2013 21:17

No. Definitely, definitely no.

DragonsAreReal · 29/09/2013 21:19

No but there are some lovely pagan names about if thats what your after.

enormouse · 29/09/2013 21:19

Apparently, my DP was going to be a Merlin (chosen by his dad) but it was vetoed by his mum.
They went for Tristan instead, thankfully Smile. Are you going for a knights of the round table/Arthurian style name?

Beamur · 29/09/2013 21:20

I wouldn't.

NotAnotherPackedLunch · 29/09/2013 21:23

Makes me think of Warwick castle and Chessington World of Adventure and other attractions a Merlin pass gets you into.

I knew a Merlin, who really suited it. He was Welsh - I wonder if it's more common there?

I used to know one who was great fun, but he had to put up with a lot of jokes about his wand.

PeppiNephrine · 29/09/2013 21:27

I know a Merlin. Girl though.

sonlypuppyfat · 29/09/2013 21:29

I remember a show called American Gothic and there was a girl called Merlin but it was pronounced Merly. But for a boy its beyond dire.

JeanPaget · 29/09/2013 21:30

Don't think that's a terribly good idea, no.

What is it about it that you like, so we could offer some alternatives. Is it the Arthurian aspect?

miffybun73 · 29/09/2013 21:32

Don't do it.

I would like to assume that this is a joke :)

BrianTheMole · 29/09/2013 21:34

I used to know a man called Merlin. Very nice person but his name was so odd. People were always making comments to his face and laughing about it. I wouldn't do it.

omuwalamulungi · 29/09/2013 21:35

I think it's utterly wizard.

noblegiraffe · 29/09/2013 21:35

Good name for a bird or wizard.

DevonCiderPunk · 29/09/2013 21:35

No

thenightsky · 29/09/2013 21:35

Makes me think of a vintage aircraft engine.

SmokedMackerel · 29/09/2013 21:36

I knew a Merlin at school.

It isn't my taste. Great name for a dog (my auntie's dog is called Merlin), less good for a human.

I quite like Merthin though (just read a book with a character called Merthin).

LadyGoodman · 29/09/2013 21:36

I think it's ridiculous Grin

nicelyneurotic · 29/09/2013 21:45

I think it's cute.

jungletoes · 29/09/2013 21:46

I love this name and would have loved it for a son. But I've had daughters and my dh said "over his dead body" anyway!!
