Hope you wise women can help me!

I'm so stuck looking for a girls name. Surname will be Hwong so I don't really want a one syllable first name.

Also avoiding names ending in a T sound as the it sounds like surname is Twong which is er.. wrong.

I love Matilda and Imogen but worry that they are too common.

Not so keen on flowery girlie names (Emily, Ophelia etc)

If it helps you picture things then we are a mixed race, London, fairly creative couple. Ideally looking for an English first name.

Any suggestions?

Beatrice? Katherine? Isabelle? Abigail?

(I think Imogen is nice though)

BlackholesAndRevelations · 25/09/2013 10:15

I think Beatrix is a good classic name for a fairly creative couple!

BettyBi0 · 25/09/2013 10:17

Ooo I like Beatrice.

Katherine is also a runner as its the name of my MIL and also grannie. But I worry its a bit boring and also I'm not keen on Cathy, Katie etc

Not so keen on Abigail it Isobel/Isabelle as so common

Have you found nameberry.com yet? You can search for names with a specific number of syllables and start and end letters or sounds. Great site.

JugglingFromHereToThere · 25/09/2013 10:42

Beatrix is nice. Then you can go wild on all the great Beatrix Potter stories and characters eg. to design a nursery or just a cute Peter Rabbit babygro like my dd had Smile

JugglingFromHereToThere · 25/09/2013 10:43

She also bought a lot of land in the beautiful Lake District and gave it to the National Trust for future generations to enjoy!

MrsDibble · 25/09/2013 10:47

I was going to say Francesca, but then I thought about the fact it is not English! Would work well with Hwong in my opinion.

I like Beatrix too. Might start a Beatrix thread...
