3 potential names for baby no.2 but which one?

So, we already have a James and we don't know if he is going to have a brother or sister. These are the 3 names we've shortlisted. 2 girls and 1 boys name. Which of these girls names do you think sounds better?

James and Eleanor or James and Matilda. Our boys name is Christopher, wish we had a second option for boys names too but could not agree on anything. If we like Christopher, what else might we like?

Thanks for the help ladies :-)

Will you shorten the girls names at all? Ellie or Tillie?
Christopher is quite a traditional name. Perhaps you would like others like Andrew, Thomas, David etc?

sallymander · 11/09/2013 17:38

I like the shortened versions less than the full name, but would probably be Tilda or Ella if we did shorten it. I really do like Thomas and David but close family members already have boys with those names sadly.

Love Matilda Smile

Haven't heard of any other girls with that name either recently

Eleanor is lovely, or Ellen.

What about Christian ?

Kaekae · 11/09/2013 18:28

I love Matilda and think Eleanor is pretty too. However, I think Eleanor goes better with James, both classic names.

Thank you guys, some lovely suggestions there. I do really like boys names starting with J, but feel we can't really have that with James as it may get very confusing if they share initials. A lot of the other names on your lists I like too but because both me and hubby have large families and youngest of all cousins a lot of them have already been taken up! I like Sebastian but was vetod. Quite like Daniel, hmmm.... Do people like Christopher? We think it's a nice name and haven't heard of any little boys called it, but perhaps that's because people don't really like it, too old sounding? Not sure.

None the wiser about Eleanor or Matilda, you seem to like both - oh dear. Maybe we should let our son choose!

Why thank you, Bootsy Grin and thank you for the congrats Bouncy.

I have a James, and for various reasons David and Thomas were out of the picture too. I love Christopher. I also like Matthew.

I would choose Eleanor out of your list - I think Matilda is like Noah, timeless but very trendy. My girls choices involve Rachel, Hannah and Catherine.

Mintyy · 11/09/2013 19:39

Edward
Jonathan
Thomas

CordeliaRose · 11/09/2013 19:44

I think Christopher is a lovely name sallymander - it suits baby, boy and grown-up imo Smile
Eleanor would be my choice for a girl- it's a beautiful name and goes well with James.

elcranko · 11/09/2013 20:41

Love both girls names but prefer Eleanor slightly more.

Other boys names- Matthew, Adam, Henry, Edward? Christopher is lovely though!
