I have always liked both these names. What do they say to you?

I love both of those - Tabitha more so but they are both really nice.

I think I'm going to suggest Tabitha to my hubby Smile

thamesk8 · 29/08/2013 22:44

Love both of these.

Licklelemon - where are you??

LauraChant · 29/08/2013 22:46

I know two sisters with those names.

magicstars · 29/08/2013 22:51

Love both.

ZeroTolerance · 30/08/2013 20:00

My main concern with Jemima is we do have family in the US and I gave heard it has racial connotations there plus something about syrup but I'm not sure we should obsess over that.

I mean, I liked Pippa till MN informed me it means all sorts of inappropriate things in other language!

Had a friend called Tab. Lovely name. Jemima reminds me of the fat ugly Playschool doll!

littlemog · 30/08/2013 20:06

Hang on, maybe that was Hamble! Was Jemima the cool one in stripey tights...?!

Mrsindecision · 30/08/2013 22:10

I really like both names, however the North American racial thing would be enough to put me off using Jemima (particularly with family in the US) so personally I would go with Tabitha.

selsigfach · 30/08/2013 22:26

Could someone explain the racial issue please?

DalmationDots · 30/08/2013 23:02

All a bit twee, beatrix potter ish for me.
Don't like tabitha at all, tabby is a horrible nn and it all just reminds me of a cat.
Jemima is ok but ruined for me by every Jemima I've met being a bit bossy, know-it-all types!
Sorry!

Jakeyblueblue · 01/09/2013 18:27

I love them both and suggested them to dh before we knew ds was a boy but he vetoed them.
He said that Jemima was a ducks name and tabitha was a cats name. Grin

shockers · 01/09/2013 18:31

I love them both. Jemima is DD's middle name and would have been her first name, had she not arrived ready supplied with one of her own!

serin · 01/09/2013 18:38

I like them both and they were both 'possibles' for DD.

ringaringarosy · 08/10/2013 10:55

I havea Tabitha and am due another girl in december,i am thinking of calling her Jemima!I quite like the beatrix potter connection i think its cute!

ringaringarosy · 08/10/2013 10:56

And i dont mind about the Tabitha-cat thing either,i like cats, ive got 4!

DitsyDonkey · 08/10/2013 11:51

Love both and both are on my list!

GatoradeMeBitch · 08/10/2013 14:05

They are 'Cath Kidston' pretend vintage bunting type names. I know three under-five Tabithas, and one Jemima.

They're not quite as ubiquitous as Lily and Amelia though.

ringaringarosy · 11/10/2013 19:22

im pretty sure tabitha and jemima were around before cath kidston.

GatoradeMeBitch · 12/10/2013 20:47

Of course they were... So were Maud and Vera, but they don't fit in with the cutesy-wutesy retro fad.

ringaringarosy · 13/10/2013 08:09

i dnt think tabitha and jemima are that cutesy, not as much as daisy, lily, poppy, rosie etc.their also quite classic,Jemimas in the bible!

ringaringarosy · 13/10/2013 08:09

in fact so is tabitha!

TallulahBetty · 13/10/2013 17:47

Tabitha is awful and a cat's name. Jemima lovely.

Emmabombemma · 13/10/2013 18:15

Tabitha is a biblical name, not a cats name.

TallulahBetty · 13/10/2013 19:05

I know 3 cats called Tabitha. Grin

Emmabombemma · 13/10/2013 19:06

My cats are Toby and Oscar- does that make them cats names?
