GoshAnneGorilla · 26/08/2013 00:48

Noooo! Why?

EldritchCleavage · 26/08/2013 01:03

Love it.

squoosh · 26/08/2013 01:07

Oh dear. Sounds like a measurement of energy in a nuclear power plant.

'Once it reaches 10 dulcimers we're doomed!'

Sister to Viola?

Alisvolatpropiis · 26/08/2013 01:20

That's hideous.

ChippingInNeedsSleepAndCoffee · 26/08/2013 01:24

squoosh Grin

Is it even a real name? Would you say it Dul - sea - mur?

Male or female?

Poor kid.

PolkadotsAndMoonbeams · 26/08/2013 01:35

I only know it as a musical instrument

I suppose it's quite a pretty sound though, poor thing could have been called Clarinet if they'd liked the nickname Nettie Grin

NoComet · 26/08/2013 02:08

According to wiki the it's a family of string instruments some plucked and some played with small hammers and the name means Sweet Song which is pretty, I guess.

It's their siblings Harpsichord (NN Harp) and Sitar I feel sorry for.

TruJay · 26/08/2013 16:13

I know of someone with the name in her 20s, never ever heard of it before then.

pinkthechaffinch · 26/08/2013 16:18

theres a baby dulcimerin 'at the back of the north wind'. Ithink its lovely.

Rooners · 26/08/2013 16:21

I nearly called ds 'Diamond' after reading that book Smile

MortifiedAdams · 26/08/2013 16:23

The mother will be a bloody MNer who has read countless threads on NOT using a nickname, abouthaving to have a longer version.

She clearly wanted Dulce. Grin

Sparrowfarts · 26/08/2013 16:30

What would her brother be called (I'm presuming it's a girl)?

Bassoon
Oboe

Organ

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/08/2013 16:32

:)

A damsel with a dulcimer, in a vision once I saw...

curlew · 26/08/2013 23:45

I think her sister would have to be Zither.

And they have a wicked Greek uncle who takes them on unsuitable treats called Bouzi.....

Ach, Remus you got there before me!

It was an Abyssinian maid and on her dulcimer she played, singing of Mount Abora.

I like it, actually.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 26/08/2013 23:57

:)

Could I revive within me...

Love it and love the man from Porlock story too.

ShadowSummer · 26/08/2013 23:59

I'm pregnant, OP.

Were you worried that I'd think "Oooh, must add Dulcimer to the shortlist for DC2"? Wink

EnjoyEverySandwich · 27/08/2013 11:24

There's a Dulcibella in my family tree. Hmm

mouseymummy · 27/08/2013 11:29

Still not as bad as Peppa... :) not pippa or any other derivative, just Peppa.

I can't say as I like dulcimer or dulce but everyone has a different view on baby names.

curlew · 27/08/2013 11:36

ShadowSummer- I have good cause to be worried.. i seriously considered Halcyon when pregnant with dd.....!

It's the hormones.

Dulcimer for a girl, Porlock for a boy. Or Kubla, of course.
