Eloise or Eloise? (or other suggestions)

We like the name, but can't decide on the spelling :)

Potential middle names are Violet or Grace.

Other suggestions welcome, though nothing beginning with 'J'

Damn auto correct, I checked the text body but not the title Grin

The question is Eloise or Elouise? :)

I think the standard spelling is Eloise, which I prefer, but Elouise also makes sense in that it is not "creative".

Not Grace though..... it seems to have become such a common middle name as to be completly indistinctive iyswim.

Eloise Violet is nice though.

Sunnysummer · 25/08/2013 07:40

This is one where autocorrect is correct... Has to be Eloise, the other one looks like a misspelling to me.

I like Eloise Violet, it's a nice spiky contrast to the softer sound of the fIrst name Smile Grace is pretty too, but currently seems like a more common 'filler' middle name (along with Rose and Mae).

num3onway · 25/08/2013 07:43

Eloise is so pretty. I also really like elodie but oh said no!

Not keen on violet and grace is quite common now but if its what you like go for it!

TangfasticMrFoxalastic · 25/08/2013 07:44

Thanks, good point made about autocorrect and Grace :)

I had Eloise Violet on my longshort list but my husband has vetoed Eloise Sad It's a beautiful name Smile

LittleBearPad · 25/08/2013 08:26

Go with autocorrect.

Elouise looks like it could be said E-Louise.

Eloise Grace is very pretty

Seaweedy · 25/08/2013 08:26

I find the combination of Eloise and Violet difficult to say and to look at because of the recurrence of 'i' and 'o', but reversed, if you see what I mean.

Eloise, definitely. Elouise would be pronounced entirely differently, surely?

BabyBrainMom · 25/08/2013 09:03

Prefer Eloise

How about Eloise May instead?

LadyLech · 25/08/2013 12:48

Eloise.

I know 4 little girls called Eloise. All spell their name this way.

Ihatepeas · 25/08/2013 14:00

Eloise Violet is gorgeous!!!!

Linguaphile · 25/08/2013 14:14

I really like Eloise Violet.

picnicbasketcase · 25/08/2013 14:16

Eloise - Elouise looks wrong and the I is entirely redundant.

TangfasticMrFoxalastic · 25/08/2013 16:17

Wow thanks, that's pretty conclusive! And was my preferred spelling too so even better Wink

I shall pass on the verdict :)

picnicbasketcase · 25/08/2013 16:19

^ That should have said the 'U', not the 'I', of course. The I is very important Smile

Thumbwitch · 25/08/2013 16:22

Good ol' autocorrect, got it completely right for once! Glad you're taking the hint Wink

I love the name Eloise. I agree that Grace is very popular at the moment but as it's a middle name, does that really matter? Still, if you like that kind of name, what about:
Eloise Faith
Eloise Hope

cookielove · 25/08/2013 16:22

A friend of mine just had a baby abd called her Elouise. To me it looks odd and much prefer the other correct spelling. :)

racingheart · 25/08/2013 16:23

Eloise is really pretty. Not sure it goes with Violet - it's the o-ee i-o vowels that sound a bit odd. I like Grace, even if it is popular. Lovely meaning and sounds pretty with Eloise.

riskit4abiskit · 25/08/2013 16:25

Heloise is a medieval name I will throw into the mix.

I like eloise as a spelling better than the other way

ExitPursuedByABear · 25/08/2013 16:27

Heloise.

How are you allpronounincing Eloise? I say elouise, I wouldn't spell it that way, but its the way I would say it.

Mucho prefer violet as a MN too!

ChasedByBees · 25/08/2013 16:37

Eloise is lovely. Elouise sounds like an online version of Louise.

Thumbwitch · 25/08/2013 16:41

Ell-o-weez.

TangfasticMrFoxalastic · 25/08/2013 16:54

I'd say it as thumbwitch above. Just need to convince dh on the spelling now

Not sure about Heloise, doesn't quite have the same ring to it, imo, but still nice. I suspect we'll go back and forth on middle names :)
