How long did that take to do? Charlottes my favourite

chattychattyboomba · 05/08/2013 20:38

I keep a list on my iPhone notes... Whenever I read a movie credit name I like, business card, movie character...you get the picture, it goes on 'the list'. I have a boy list too just in case Wink

Oh, Soléne is beautiful.

TallulahBetty · 05/08/2013 20:42

Scarlett, Savannah, Georgia or Anastasia.

chattychattyboomba · 05/08/2013 20:44

P.s sorry for repeats!

OP posts:
LillyNotOfTheValley · 05/08/2013 21:48

Imogen! And if you wish to make the list a bit longer, I think Vivienne or Cosima would fit too

chattychattyboomba · 05/08/2013 22:19

Lilly thanks for the suggestions. Not too keen on Cosima... Sorry reminds me of Quasimodo. Vivienne is pretty but my old modelling agency was Vivien's (in Aus) and they were nasty people so bad memories attached Wink

dufflefluffle · 05/08/2013 22:23

That looks like the shortlist I had when having dd (until she was about two weeks old when dh settled on one.

dufflefluffle · 05/08/2013 22:24

PS my favourite would be Estella

Rhubarbgarden · 05/08/2013 23:31

I like Anais or Artemis

chattychattyboomba · 05/08/2013 23:57

Duffle and rhubarb- I really like Estella but afraid DH might rule it out on the grounds that it 'sounds like a beer'.
Artemis is really cool- Greek name like Ariana but I can have an Arty and an Ari... Or can I? ....
And Anais, love this name a lot but DH's comment on this was 'Anas? You want to name our child Anas?'
Yes....
So now you all know why I have a bit of a name obsession, forever hunting for the perfect one that we can agree on! Lol
Btw WeAll, I am putting Soléne on the short list I think. Wink

Genevieve.

Fluer is the worst.

chattychattyboomba · 06/08/2013 00:02

Hmmm you might be right Lynette... Not sure why but it looked nicer when I wrote it down... Doesn't sound nice or flow easily though... And brings to mind tampons...
Anyway it's getting cut.
Thanks for the feedback! Keep it coming!

Lovely names list - FWIW I like all of them except reservations about:

Anastasia - People will think Anastasia is after 50 Shades (and there will be a few of them I reckon), or that s/he's a 50 shades baby. (I got pregnant around the time the book was really popular and I got asked if my bump was "A 50 Shades Baby". Very insulting! I read good books Grin)

Florence - only if you don't mind people thinking you're a Tory.

Evelyn - lots around at the moment I imagine as long form of the ridiculously popular Evie.

Octavia, Scarlette, Darcey/Darcie, Penelope, Georgia - your other names are nicer IMO.

Olive - can't help but think of Popeye, sorry

Grace - every other girl has Grace as a middle name these days. Way too overused IMO.

LynetteScavo · 06/08/2013 00:16

Maybe because it should be Fleur? Wink

chattychattyboomba · 06/08/2013 00:18

Grin Thanks!
Florence is a family name! We both like it but realise there is that association... I think we can live with it.
Evelyn.. Tell me about it! In Ariana's ballet class we have an Evie, Edie, Ava & Ivy!!Shock and an Aria much to my dismay Hmm I don't like Evie/Eva, but I guess people would still use it.

I haven't read 50 shades and didn't even know about the name. I'm sure the phenomenon will die out.
As for Olive, we considered Olivia for Ariana (DD1) and thought Olive might be a more original take for number 2.
Grace I think is just a beautiful gentle sounding name, although yea you are quite right it's very common.

Bah! How did I miss that Lynette! Obvs meant Fleur! Lol

wigglesrock · 06/08/2013 08:47

I'd avoid all the Anastasia, Anneliese type names, you already have an Ariana, I know you shorten it to Ari, but she might prefer Ana when she's older.

I really like Juliet, but not Julietta as much. I really Aurelia and Helena but it depends how you pronounce it - I love Hel lee na as opposed to Helen a.

aufaniae · 06/08/2013 09:04

Why did I write s/he? Unlikely you're going to call a boy child Anastasia!

chattychattyboomba · 08/08/2013 14:55

Just goes to show we all have very very different taste! Btw Jewel is not on the list for any other reason than it's my DH's diseased sister's name and it would mean a lot to in-laws to include in the name- it's not a name I would usually go for but has meaning so would probably be a middle name.

OP posts:
chattychattyboomba · 08/08/2013 14:57

Oh and I know I repeated names (read thread)...
Also yes, I like 'a' names especially those also ending in 'a'... Don't know why, just drawn to them :-) probably won't go for another 'a' name but couldn't resist adding them to 'the list'
