Alba or Murron

I like Alba, DH likes Murron. We are of scottish blood living in England, which is why I think Alba better as Murron only sounds nice in a scots accent.

Or any other Scottish girls names you would like to add please feel free.

Murron looks like a really inelegant and clunky spelling to me.

Merryn or Merrin are nicer looking imo but I can't put my finger on why this is.

The Irish name Muireann (pr Mwir-en) spelled with one R and two Ns is one I love. It's allegedly a form of Marian.

Would you consider Esme (pr Esmay in my mind)

Lorna is beautiful, a classic, probably impossible to mispronounce.

Also Murron makes me think of mutton.

Gobbolinothewitchscat Aisling is a legitimate Irish name which I have never heard once heard pronounced as Ashleen in Ireland.

I'm liking Lorna more now I think, DH has said today how much he hates Alba and Murron just doesn't sound right down here. I think I'm going to have to keep searching for that name, but Lorna is on the list (well on my list anyway)

I've always had a really positive response to my name. Easy to spell, easy to say but yet still not really common.

Squoosh and Gobbolin, my Dsis's girlfriend is an Aisling and it's pronounced Ash-ling. I've never heard it any other way! And it's a gorgeous name.

Alba is pronounced Alapa in Gaelic, just FYI.

Murron...gonna end up nicknamed Moron. Especially if s/he (dunno what gender these are for, sorry) ever does anything wrong or doesn't understand anything.

Alba is better. Murran in my English accent sounds dire.

I agree the '-ling' ending is the one you will find in Ireland.

Cannot stand the other two alternatives. Both ugly names IMO. Go with your heart (and your heart is with Lorna)

One thing I did with DD, whose name is Sophie, is to collect lots of Sophie stuff. All the Sophie books (Sophie's Choice, Sophie's World etc). Lorna Doone is a great book. I don't know where you might go with Alba or Moron.

I love the name Alba for other reasons, but also love this book.
