I like Alba, DH likes Murron. We are of scottish blood living in England, which is why I think Alba better as Murron only sounds nice in a scots accent.

Or any other Scottish girls names you would like to add please feel free.

curlew · 29/06/2013 01:09

Or you could choose a name?

WildThongsHeartString · 29/06/2013 01:14

I like Mirren better than Murren.

bemybebe · 29/06/2013 01:27

don't travel to the Netherlands as Alba

Alisvolatpropiis · 29/06/2013 01:36

Why bemby?

fanjodisfunction · 29/06/2013 07:03

I really like Lorna.

I do find a lot of scottish girls names sound harsh in an english accent.

Fanjo that's my name and I've always liked it. It's not too popular either and I'm Scottish.

What about Iona, lovely name and it's a Scottish island.

fanjodisfunction · 29/06/2013 09:47

zip lovely name.

Iona is nice, but DH doesn't pronounce it the same as me.

That's very true SoonToBe! considers square sausage on a roll for lunch

raisah · 29/06/2013 12:33

Alba because Murron is too close to moron and school kids are merciless and cruel.

EstelleGetty · 29/06/2013 12:51

I love Alba. I know a lovely Spanish woman named Alba and I think it sounds so graceful. Plus I'm Scottish, but don't feel remotely sentimental about it, and still think it's gorgeous.

squoosh · 29/06/2013 18:22

I really don't like either.

Alba reminds me of cheap electrical goods.

Murren just looks so clumpy.

MrsEricBana · 29/06/2013 18:31

Ooh I like Alba - the daughter in The Time Traveller's Wife was called that and I thought it was lovely. I presumed it meant white and therefore pure etc but maybe not.

MrsEricBana · 29/06/2013 18:33

Ah, just looked it up, it does mean white and is the f form of Albus.

MrsEricBana · 29/06/2013 18:34

Murron too close to moron for comfort I reckon.

RoooneyMara · 29/06/2013 18:38

See I never use that word as it's so disgusting - so I never associated it with Murron.

How sad that the world has come to this.

RoooneyMara · 29/06/2013 18:39

'school kids are merciless and cruel.'

I feel sad when people cite that as a reason not to use a name, too

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 29/06/2013 18:46

I'm Scottish and I've never hear if Murron only Muirrean (which I do like).

To be honest, Murron would sound to me like had heard Muirrean (although I know it spelled "muireann") and were trying to do a rough approximation but didnt know how it was spelled. Sorry. I know a poor unfortunate called "aisling". That should be pronounced "Ashleen" but her American parents didnt realise and pronounced it as it was spelled. It caused a few [hmms] when she joined our Scottish school and she actually changed the pronounciation. Her patents were very Blush.

Don't like Alba either due to the electronic connection mentioned up thread.

happyreindeer · 29/06/2013 18:50

I never use the word moron either and encourage other people not to.
