Mourning for the names I would never be brave enough to use ...

It turns out I am quite conventional really and I don't like standing out from the pack.

So, the names I have chosen for my 2 dc are nice, not overly popular but not outrageous. This means that names I have loved since a child, I will never be able to use, so now I'm pg with dc3 I'm mourning them as we have chosen another conventional (but lovely) name.

So bye to:

Anoushka
Primrose
Arrietty

Do you have any names you were not brave enough to use?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
pettyprudence · 22/06/2013 09:28

Pomroy
Delilah
Gilbert (i might actually use this one and nn Gil or Bertie)

Actually I would use all of the above but dh wont let me have enough children Grin

Tiger-Lily

Valentine
Begona (there should be a Spanish wiggly accent above the n)
Oberon
Cosmo
Apollo

NeverBeenToMe · 22/06/2013 09:43

Tuesday - DD2 is under strict instructions to use it as a stage name if ever the occasion arises Grin

itsnothingoriginal · 22/06/2013 20:25

Loving Anouska and Gilbert!

My kids do have fairly unusual names but DH drew the line at these ones which I would have secretly loved :

Peregrine
Monty
Anastasia
Jonty

ghosteditor · 22/06/2013 20:27

I know two of the above Grin

Adithi (Hindi for 'boundless one')
India (may yet use it if I have my way)

MrsP23 · 22/06/2013 20:29

Lucretia - loved this but a bit too out there for my hubby x

Rafferty (too posh for where I live) Wink

BikeRunSki · 22/06/2013 21:15

My brother is called Ambrose! Have a nephew Gilbert, nn Bernie.

I wasn't quite brave enough to call DD "Lorellei".

Newforestpony · 22/06/2013 21:15

Was desperate for Algernon - my grandfather used to joke that his real name was Albert Algernon Wimplesnoop John - but compromised with Albert as 1 of his 2 middle names.

Yes, 2 middle names as a much longed for only child :-)

sillyoldfool · 22/06/2013 21:18

I'm about to have DC3 and they all have 2 middle names! They have a sensible middle name, and a crazy hippy middle name that they can drop if they become high court judges or something....

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 22/06/2013 21:21

So many. I've always loved the more unusual name (have one myself) For some bazaar reason I went all sensible during both pregnancies.
Love
Romilly
Cordelia
Aurora
Fitzgerald
Clementine
Ramones
Claudia
Geronimo Grin

loler · 22/06/2013 21:23

Oh petty - I love Gilbert, eber since watching Anne of Green Gables - I was planning on having a dog called Gil as I couldn't do it to DSs

bootsycollins · 22/06/2013 21:24

The dh and dc's claim that these favourites of mine would be enough to incite a playground riot where the child is bullied into oblivion, I think they're lovely.

Eugene
Gabriel
Austin
Ramona

kissmyshineymetalass · 22/06/2013 21:25

Persephone
Estee

bootsycollins · 22/06/2013 21:26

Oh and Quentin, Tristan and Sergio.

dubstarr73 · 22/06/2013 21:34

I loved Hunter for a boy or Quincy but i couldnt do that to the kids

bulletwithbutterflywings · 22/06/2013 21:57

Omg, Lorelei and Mallory are the other girls names I love - but I will probably use one of those if I get an opportunity.

ExeuntPenguinFollowedByACat · 22/06/2013 22:27

Lorelei is gorgeous. How would it be pronounced?

If I had been braver, Isis would've been on my baby name list...

melliebobs · 22/06/2013 22:29

Jesse. Dd was going to be Jesse if she was a ds. Dd ended up being called Nancy. Could never have a nancy and a Jesse. Tantamount to child abuse. But there will be no dc2 so it's all trivial really

pettyprudence · 22/06/2013 22:39

Omg so many ace names on this thread! im expecting dc2 and have NO boys names, but I do have 35 weeks to go Grin
im going to come back here id dc2 turns out to be ds2

tammytoby · 24/06/2013 13:11

These names are all great! Particularly like Clementine, Cassidy, Gabriel and Tristan. We have a Quentin and love that too Smile. Are these names really too 'out there' and need bravery to use them?!
