Oskar and blaize.

Both would have fairly meaningful reasons for choice but neither has more meaning than the other and I'm stuck help.

Oskar

Blaize reminds me of house fires, not good.

squoosh · 11/06/2013 10:29

Go for Blaise, I'm a bif baffled by the 'girl's names' comments, seeing as he was a male saint.

I know a Blaise and he's lovely and v handsome.

Oskar is a bit tired.

IneedAsockamnesty · 11/06/2013 12:53

Squoosh like the st the family member was also a docter.

And I've just had this chat with one of my sons who thinks neither of them but I should pick Borris Johnson or Augustus gloop I'm rather glad I didn't tell him to pick the name Grin

IneedAsockamnesty · 14/06/2013 08:28

So what names have you thought about for a girl?

As a general rule, I think if you are going to bring a child up in a country X you should spell the name the way it would be spelt in country X - they're the ones that will have to spend their lives correcting people and frankly, it just looks like you trying to be 'different'.

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 14/06/2013 08:33

I mean, I know why you were doing it, and you weren't doing it to be 'different' but it would look like you were - just like spelling Caitlin - Kaytlyn or Tracey - Traycee.

Mockingcurl · 14/06/2013 08:37

Neither. Blaize is awful.

amazingmumof6 · 14/06/2013 12:50

socket no harm done!Grin

I love Oskar. with a K

I have a name that is spellt with a "c" in English but "k" in Hungarian.
I've been reminding/correcting people for almost 16 years.

it's fine.
I always check that my name is spelt correctly official reasons -applications for passport, driving license etc and very importantly for filling in medical papers .

did you know that if your name is misspelt on the little tube they take the blood samples in and therefore it doesn't match with other papers they won't test it and you'll need a new blood test?

anyway, I'd still go for Oskar.

Oskar yes...blaize sounds like a character that should be in a video game.

ChippingInWiredOnCoffee · 14/06/2013 18:06

Well - you really can't go wrong with Chipping you know :)

Start a new thread with some names you 'kind of like' and we'll try to suggest some others. Link from this thread though or I'll we'll miss it.

Timetoask · 14/06/2013 18:10

I prefer Oscar. I don't like Blaise. If you are planning on living in the UK, then I woudl spell it with a c.
