Baby no-name! Please help!

Hi all,

We are trying to pick a name for our new baby daughter and are rapidly running out of time.

We have narrowed it down to the list below but hubby and I do not agree.

He likes
Skye, Eden, Morgan, Amber and Ruby and I like Thea, Skye, Arabella and Beatrix.

The only crossover we have is Skye but it is not our favourite of each of our respective lists.

I may eventually post our list of 'dismissed' names but it is over 500 names long so it will not be today.

The criteria is that the name must be quite simple and easy to spell as we are fine with "that is unusual", but want to avoid "how do you spell that?"throughout their lives.

We already have an Oliver and a Leila and our surname starts with "A" so that migh be a consideration.

Any help would be appreciated.

We only have until 16th to name her so a rapid response would avoid "baby X" on the birth certificate.

HELP HELP HELP!!!

Skye
Eden
Morgan
Amber
Ruby

Arabella

If your surname ends in A, depending on where in the country you live, I wouldn't pick a forename that ends in 'A', too, or you could end up with that horrible inserted 'R' when people say her full name. People have already recommended loads of options, but if you have 'Skye' in common, why not go for that? Your and your dp's favourites have already been rejected, so why not Skye?

Skye is nice - bit more common in Scotland :) really not keen on Eden or Morgan.

Otherwise I like Slur too :)

If you like Arabella, what about Bella? Shorter, easier to spell, kind of goes with the others - Oliver, Leila...Bella.

Of the choices you've listed I like Amber the best.

I have always loved Freya but dh vetoed it early on. Same with Freida and Fritha.

We both love Harriet but it just isn't the right fit.

Skye is looking more and more likely.

Does skye suit her? Can't help thinking if you really liked it you'd have settled on it before now! I love Harriet and you could shorten it to Hattie/Hatty or Hettie. There was a thread on here recently that included Anais. Just thought I'd mention it as its unusual and lovely! I like Beatrix on your list. Let us know what you decide Smile

Skye - it's a place not a child
Eden - it's a place in the Bible, not a child
Morgan - isn't that a car?
Amber - semi precious stone, should it be a precious stone?
Ruby - precious stone - OK as a name
Thea - sounds like it's missing an ending

2 propper names and IMHO fit well with your other children's names

Arabella
Beatrix

What about three names that initialise to SKY?

Sophie Keira Yvonne. You and dh get to chose one name and depending on the ages of your other children let them have a choice too.

So it's ok to name a child after a stone, but not a place? Confused
