A girls name to go with Polly

Phoebe47 · 16/04/2013 15:52

I have a daughter named Polly (age 3) and my second daughter is due in 5 weeks. Finding it difficult to choose a name. So far considering Isla, Josie, Harriet (Hatty for short), Anna and Arabella (Bella for short) but not sure any of these are quite right. We like them but do not love them as we do the name Polly. Any opinions/suggestions?

Love Polly.

Like Harriet best from your list.

How about Thea, Martha, Esme, Libby (if you don't mind another 'ee' sounding ending), Anita, Esther, Thalia, Tabitha, Claudia.

Josie or Harriet sound a nice pairing with Polly.

I was going to suggest Megan or Fiona.

Have often suggested Phoebe on Baby Names Smile Whether or not this is your real name it is nice to see a Phoebe posting.

We have a Polly, a Hettie (rather than Hattie) and a Josie in our family, over three generations!

I like Pippa with Polly (but I'm biased because it's my name Grin)

Polly - Anna... Personally I wouldn't although love these names, just not together. Isla, although lovely, is very popular especially compared to Polly. Josie, Hatty and Bella are all great names.

My first thought, however, was Tess.

At school when I was a girl there were two sisters called Polly and Alice. So, Alice?

sarahandemily · 16/04/2013 20:08

I like Martha with Polly. They sound quite different but same no of syllables and dont both end in an ee sound

dadofnone · 16/04/2013 20:11

Anna?

Ham69 · 16/04/2013 20:12

Moonhare's suggestion of Esther made me Grin.
Absolutely adore the names Polly and Esther, just not together!

My suggestions would be:
Harriet
Tabitha
Jemima
Sylvie
Clara

Jemima? Talia?

I have a Polly. Won't say what her sister's name is for fear of outing, but some of the names on my list were Jemima, Alice, Florence, Eleanor. I like Isla on your list - or what about Iris?

ppeatfruit · 16/04/2013 20:54

Millie

Molly

Mandy? Maybe a bit twee but they're old fashioned names like Polly Grin
