Elliot Rose. What do you think of this name for a girl? Also would you use 2 t's and 2 l's?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
BlueChampagne · 11/04/2013 12:39

I would assume Elliot was a boy.

HappyJoyful · 11/04/2013 12:41

I would assume Elliot was a boy too

GooseEnthusiast · 11/04/2013 12:45

I like it Smile

FreedomOfTheTess · 11/04/2013 12:48

Elliott is a boy's name.

lollypopsicle · 11/04/2013 13:05

I like it. However, be prepared for the possibility of people taking the liberty of calling her 'elly-rose' as a nn. We are thinking of a similar first name and are avoiding Rose, Jane and May as middle names for this reason.

harleyd · 11/04/2013 13:06

i like it

givemeaclue · 11/04/2013 13:07

Boy name!

AssamAndDarjeeling · 11/04/2013 13:08

No, sorry. It's a boy's name!

What about Eleanor instead?

Startail · 11/04/2013 13:12

I'd go for Ella Rose or Elen Rose.
The only Elliot I know is a little boy and Elliot so totally suits him I'd have difficulty thinking of it as a girls name.

seeker · 11/04/2013 13:13

Give the poor child a girl's name.

seeker · 11/04/2013 13:14

Unless it is a boy, obviously, in which case the Rose bit is A Very Bad Idea.

i know a girl name Elliot, but i think its not her birth given name

squoosh · 11/04/2013 13:38

Boy.

PandaNot · 11/04/2013 13:40

I think it's lovely and is the kind of name I would choose for my hypothetical second dd.

iloveweetos · 11/04/2013 13:42

I love the name Ella Rose!
agree Elliott sounds like a boys name - but i would spell it as Elliott

Offcolour · 11/04/2013 16:30

Elliot is a boys name and seems very incongruous with a pretty name like Rose.

What about:
Ellen Rose
Ella Rose
Eloise Rose
Louisa Rose

thermalsinapril · 11/04/2013 17:00

Boy's name, sorry.

Dinosaurdrip · 12/04/2013 08:09

I think Elliot is a beautiful unisex name.

Ilovecheeseandlovinglife · 12/04/2013 08:12

Lovely for a girl :) I have a classically boys name and love it. X

Dinosaurdrip · 12/04/2013 08:13

I also think that using rose as a middle name is lovely. We called our DD Dylan Emily and I think that's beautiful too although a lot of people on here disagree but each to their own.

thistlelicker · 12/04/2013 08:17

Why would anybody consider a boys name for a girl or even a girls name
For a
Boy? I know we live In a world where peculiar things happen but doesn't this just set said child up for being teased..... Say for chance u did name girl Elliot and there was also a boy with same name, how
Do u explain it?

seeker · 12/04/2013 08:29

People do it because they think their preference is more important than their child's possible discomfort. There is no other explanation. It makes me cross.

Dinosaurdrip · 12/04/2013 08:33

As a posed to some of the other random names out there? You explain that the name is UNISEX and so can therefor be either.

JassyRadlett · 12/04/2013 08:41

Just because there are worse names out there doesn't make it ok. When a name is heavily skewed in favour of one sex - and I agree Elliot is - you're basically sending your kid out on the losing side of an argument with other kids (and probably some not-nice adults).

It's all about perception, isn't it? I mean, that's why we agonise over names like we do. Anyway, one of my rules for naming a child of my own is 'avoid Boy Named Sue territory'.
