I'm really keen on this name, my dh is put off by 'Josie Jump' in Balamory but I think the programme will be outdated by the time she starts school (I'm sure it's only repeates on Cbeebies now?!).

Do you think it's a popular name at the moment (which would make it a no no) and do you like it?
Thanks!

It's absolutely lovely and was one of our frontrunners for DD2 - unfortunately she was born the day after someone called Josie won Big Brother and it put me off!

MintyyAeroEgg · 05/04/2013 20:25

Like but don't love.

Crikeyblimey · 05/04/2013 20:27

One of my nieces is called Josie (Josephine) and she is a beautiful, delightful and fantastic teenager now. I love the name.

frazzledbutcalm · 05/04/2013 20:27

Personally don't like the name Josie ... BUT it's not my baby Wink
If you like it, that's all that matters Smile
Not sure how to talk your dh round but I'm of the firm opinion that if I/we like the name then that's it. Doesn't matter what anyone else thinks or how many others are called this. Also, probably most names will be assigned to something off tv/boy-girl bands etc.
If your dh likes the name as much as you then congratulations on your sweet little Josie Smile

I like it. And I don't know anyone of any age called Josephine or Josie so it's not popular in my circles.

CityGal29 · 05/04/2013 21:01

Know one and love it Grin

LeChatRouge · 05/04/2013 21:03

Lovely. Go for it. One of my very best friends is Jo, aka Josie, aka Josephine, aka Jojo.

I like the idea of a baby Jo, it feels fresh and underused.

williaminajetfighter · 05/04/2013 21:10

My friends grandmother is Josephine and goes by Joey. Lovely. If you don't hate Dawsons Creek.

LillianGish · 05/04/2013 21:11

Gorgeous.

OlyRoller · 05/04/2013 21:14

My grandmother is a Josephine, she goes by Jo. She's 89. And Zumbas!

HoneyandRum · 05/04/2013 23:12

Yes.

bingeddybongo · 06/04/2013 06:38

My almost-5 year old niece is called Josie, though my sister-in-law always makes sure everyone knows she's really Josephine. I love it, and am gutted I can't use it!

MrsJamin · 06/04/2013 07:19

Love it, go for it. I like the fact that its girly but strong.

AThingInYourLife · 06/04/2013 07:24

Love

LegArmpits · 06/04/2013 07:56

I know a 6 year old Josie (not Josephine.) I love it. Seems very underused too.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 06/04/2013 19:40

We were watching a French tv series recently set in present day which featured a very attractive, very clever deeply burdened with emotional baggage character called Josephine. Ok I know it's pretend but it was great hearing the name and why not Jo or Josie as nn.

glorious · 06/04/2013 19:43

lovely, was on our shortlist for DD.

DessieLou · 06/04/2013 19:44

Its on our (my!) list if we have dd2. I hadn't thought of joey as a nn, I rather like that!

flounderscominghome · 06/04/2013 21:42

lovely name
(i went to uni with a josie she was really lovely)

Bowlersarm · 06/04/2013 21:44

Yep good call. We know a 12 year old Josephine known as Josie.

OkayHazel · 07/04/2013 04:13

Josie is a great name. It works wonderfully on the 22 year old I know.

LadyLech · 07/04/2013 08:53

Fab name. I love it.

HorryIsUpduffed · 07/04/2013 10:46

Like! There's also Posy from Josephine if DH is sold on Josephine but not Josie.

Lioncubs · 15/04/2013 21:06

It's a brilliant name. My sister is called Josephine. We call her Jos or Josie but my parents said they regret not calling her the full name when younger as no one uses the full name now. Love full and short name and so does she. No one will remember cbeebie connection

smother · 15/04/2013 22:28

Absolutely love this name.... but are these Josies pronounced 'Jo-sea' or 'Jo-zee'? I've heard it both ways and the confusion puts me off a little
