Iris Clementine and Cassius Angelo....the have come about after insane indecision. We love the names but just want to get a feel for what kind of reactions we may get to them!

I like them both, as long as you are pronouncing Cassius Cash-us and not Cass-i-us.

I love your names for a girl but your names for a boy are really not my cup of tea at all. That is irrelevant though, you love them and are happy in your decision and that is what is important. If I could get to your position in our search for DC3's name then I would not risk my happiness with a MN thread!

Ooh kiss - is that the "proper" way of pronouncing Cassius? I never knew - what is its origin?

It's Latin. However the meaning is 'narcissist' which can put people off.

Does Cassius mean narcissist really? I thought it meant "empty" which isn't a great meaning either really!

OP, so you imagine him being known as Cass? In my mind Cass is a very feminine name, a short form of Cassandra.

LOVE Iris Clementine! Cassius Angelo is nice but I wouldn't use it myself. But if you love it then who cares!

Girls names lovely, sorry Cassius (however it's pronounced isn't for me). Does it go with your surname? Can you see him as a 5/15/50 year old with this name?

Love your girl's name. Your boy name is much more unusual, which is itself unusual, as people tend to use common boy names and more varied girl names but, whatever you like!

Love Clementine, but really dislike Iris! Boy's name is fabulous.

I like the girl's names very much but less keen on the boy's I'm afraid.I prefer Atticus to Cassius [who will always 'dance like a butterfly and sting like a bee'] and maybe change Angelo to a less feminine sounding Italian/Spanish boy's name like Luca or Matteo.
But it is your baby and your choice and your names are fine :)

Thank you for the honest comments so far. Cassius means vein and conceited....not the best meaning I agree but I'm sure when it's associated with a lovely little baby people won't associate it with its meaning, if in fact they even know the meaning. Artichook yep we love the nn Cass, it is a bit feminine but we plan on using the full name most of the time. Thegreylady Angelo is my df's name.

Love Iris, but find Clementine twee and affected. (sorrrrry). I do like Cassius and Angelo and would have no problem with the meaning. I would also pronounce Cass-i-us and would find the Cash-us pronunciation pretentious whether it be correct or not. A sort of pronunciation snobbery in there somewhere. Makes my teeth itch

On the girl's name, it is rather odd to have two nouns, I think.

I'd have assumed the pr. was Cass-i-us, which is much nicer than Cash-yus.

I would also say Alic-ee-a not Al-ee-sha for Alicia and Par-is-ee-an not Par-eejz-an for Parisian. I see all of those as a UK / US distinction, though I know some people in the UK use some of the latter. Obviously your son and people who know him will use you chosen pr. so I don't see any problem there.
