Name my dd!

Dd is due next week and we're still stumped for her name! Help me out mnetters! Here's the criteria:

  1. Middle name to be Christina so something that goes with that.
  2. We like traditional names so nothing too modern (no Keira-type names). DS is Edward, to give you an idea.
  3. Nothing one-syllabled - surname is only one syllable so I think it needs a first name that's more than one syllable to balance it out. Surname begins with P.
  4. Names we love but have ruled out because they're already in the family: Alice, Lucy, Elizabeth.
  5. Would prefer it not to be a name in the top ten - I love Olivia, Evie etc, but don't want her to be one of five in her class.

I think that's it - please share your ideas! I promise I will update with what we choose!

Not Emilia - she will forever be asked is it Amelia - "what made your mum call you Emilia and not Amelia".

lurcherlover · 01/04/2013 22:26

married, that's my main worry with it!

Imogen and Violet are lovely. DH has just said "violent" when I suggested it though Grin

Constance

I wouldn't worry too much about whether it goes with Christina (though you could have just Christine) as you will rarely ever say the names together after the first month. Much more important to have a first name that you like rather than one that "goes" with the middle name.

I think Emilia is nice but it is not uncommon and will get confused with the whole Amelia thing so if rarity is your wish , I'd discount it tbh

lurcherlover · 01/04/2013 22:30

Definitely want Christina not Christine as it's my mum's name.

From suggestions so far I like Beatrice, Imogen and Violet. What do you think of Abigail?

OP posts:
RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/04/2013 22:33

I quite like Abigail BUT 1) Abigail in The Crucible is so bloody awful and b) an abigail is a maid, so both of those put me off a bit.

Violet is nice.

charlottery · 01/04/2013 22:33

Adelaide

lurcherlover · 01/04/2013 22:34

Abigail in The Crucible is awful, 'tis true...but Abby in ER is cool ignoring the alcoholic aspects

OP posts:
lurcherlover · 01/04/2013 22:35

Adelaide is nice, what would the nickname be?

OP posts:
Zippo · 01/04/2013 22:36

I thought Helena Christina had a nice ring too it but maybe too much "A" and sounds too close to Helena Christianson.

Arabella
Beatrice as mentioned is great (Beatrix too)
Hermione
If you like Emilia how about Emma, Emily or Emmeline
Matilda
Eloise

BTW I adore Edward as a name

lulaloon · 01/04/2013 22:37

I think perhaps having something ending in an 'e' sound (be it a nickname even), would go well with Christina and your surname.

Penelope
Cecily
Delphi
Posy
Josephne
Ottilie
Hebe
Annie

Though also think Florence, Violet, Willow and Beatrice are very nice.

marriedinwhiteagain · 01/04/2013 22:37

Imogen goes with Edward (Immi and Ed). It goes with Christina too. I think it was on our short-list many years ago.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/04/2013 22:37

Love Hermione and Eloise.

Don't like Adelaide, sorry. Wasn't that awful girl on Bread called it? Or something similar?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 01/04/2013 22:38

Love Posy too, but suspect it will be too cutesy for Lurcher's tastes. :)

MortifiedAdams · 01/04/2013 22:39

Margaret, nns Meg or Maggie
Harriet
Juliet

marriedinwhiteagain · 01/04/2013 22:40

But if you go for Eloise, why not Louise? Not Hermione, please not Hermione -she will have to grow into it Wink

marriedinwhiteagain · 01/04/2013 22:40

Good luck by the way. Could be any minute from now I guess Grin

raisah · 01/04/2013 22:43

Eleanor
Carolyn
Vivienne
Lesley
Jennifer
Gillian
Simone

cityangel · 01/04/2013 22:44

Elin, Seren, Harriet, Alice - you need to be thinking of the shortened options because edward will end up as less syllables at school. The more syllables the more shortening.

lulaloon · 01/04/2013 22:46

Posy can be a fab nickname for Primrose or Josephine

StitchAteMySleep · 01/04/2013 22:46

Violet Christina
Ottilie Christina
Abigail Christina
Ellen Christina
Eleanor Christina
Milicent (Millie) Christina
Phoebe Christina
Grace Christina
Agnes Christina
