Strong and classic? Or other?! Opinions please ladies. Thanks in advance :-)

Would he be called the full name or shorted? I like it. My DS is called Finley James ( James is his middle name) but he is always called FJ, his dad started it and it kinda stuck.

Puddlelane · 19/03/2013 15:34

Really nice classic names

wedontplaywithelectrics · 19/03/2013 15:35

Known as just Rupert or nn Roo/Rupe

Not keen on Rupert, it's not my kind of name but I love James.
The names do flow well together though.

Gwennan · 19/03/2013 15:54

Murdoch.

Timetoask · 19/03/2013 16:01

Rupert is lovely! Hopefully he will be known as rupert rather than rj

AlisonClare · 19/03/2013 16:03

Strong and clean - like it

landofsoapandglory · 19/03/2013 16:05

I like it.

BeeBopDingALing · 19/03/2013 16:50

Rupert is a bit of a wet name. Really like James, classic and lovely. If definitely using both I would reverse them.

Beatrixpotty · 19/03/2013 16:58

They sound good together, nice classic names.

dragonflymama · 19/03/2013 17:16

Love them together!

shoobidoo · 19/03/2013 17:50

Lovely combo but then almost any names works well with James as middle name - hence why it's become somewhat of a default middle name (we have one too: Quentin James!).

OkayHazel · 19/03/2013 17:51

Love them!

AKissIsNotAContract · 19/03/2013 17:52

I love Rupert, great name.

wedontplaywithelectrics · 19/03/2013 17:52

Thanks for your comments. The Murdoch connection doesn't bother us tbh. Rupert Murdoch's son is a James too, haha!
We were more concerned about it being viewed as a "poncey/wet/posh" name, but the general feeling and feedback is that it has a certain classic, elegant appeal. I think this baby will be our little Roo :-)

I agree with you, OP. You could say the same of Roland, another name which I like.

BeeBopDingALing · 19/03/2013 18:13

If you like the nn Roo you could go for Rueben, Ruaraidh or Rudiah which are a bit stronger than Rupert.

WormCanner · 19/03/2013 18:51

Or Rudolph which can also be Rudy.

olivertheoctopus · 19/03/2013 23:10

Love Rupert. Is on our list!

shoobidoo · 20/03/2013 12:09

Rupert is great and much nicer than Rudolph imo!

Sunshineandwaves · 20/03/2013 12:10

I think it's a great name!

dashoflime · 20/03/2013 12:10

Really nice combination. Makes me think of Rupert Giles from Buffy.

mayanna123 · 21/03/2013 12:31

Lovely name combo - Rupert is a great name!

Mrsrobertduvall · 21/03/2013 12:35

Love James but Rupert no.
I imagine a chinless wonder.

MrsMarigold · 21/03/2013 12:36

we wanted to call our son Rupert James Thomas this but had to go with Robert instead because it is a family name and it was a bit political. I love it - do it.

As for Rueben, Ruaraidh or Rudiah, sorry BebopdingALing - I hate them all.
