I LOVE it! I may have to steal it.... ;-)

LOVE it! Especially Rupert, unusual yet easy to say and spell and so strong.

Not keen on Rupert, sorry. Sounds a bit wet to me. And also reminds me of Rupert the Bear.

Love James though.

Ruaraidh is pronounced Rory, or thereabouts. Much stronger than Rupert, that does make me think of a very posh chinless wonder, unfortunately, sorry. Rupert the Bear?

Agree that Rupert is MUCH nicer than Rudolph (Rudy = Rude-y to me), Rudiah or Ruaraidh (however that is pronounced...).

Love the whole name,
Love Roo, Rudy and RJ.

A winner!

Really like it. As well as the shortening to Roo.

All the Ruperts I've known have been lovely

we wanted to call our son Rupert James Thomas this but had to go with Robert instead because it is a family name and it was a bit political. I love it - do it.

As for Rueben, Ruaraidh or Rudiah, sorry BebopdingALing - I hate them all.

Love James but Rupert no.
I imagine a chinless wonder.

Lovely name combo - Rupert is a great name!

Really nice combination. Makes me think of Rupert Giles from Buffy.

Rupert is great and much nicer than Rudolph imo!

Love Rupert. Is on our list!

Report
WormCanner · 19/03/2013 18:51

Or Rudolph which can also be Rudy.

Report
BeeBopDingALing · 19/03/2013 18:13

If you like the nn Roo you could go for Rueben, Ruaraidh or Rudiah which are a bit stronger than Rupert.

Report
WormCanner · 19/03/2013 17:58

I agree with you, OP. You could say the same of Roland, another name which I like.

Thanks for your comments. The Murdoch connection doesn't bother us tbh. Rupert Murdoch's son is a James too, haha!
We were more concerned about it being viewed as a "poncey/wet/posh" name, but the general feeling and feedback is that it has a certain classic, elegant appeal. I think this baby will be our little Roo :-)

Love them!

Lovely combo but then almost any names works well with James as middle name - hence why it's become somewhat of a default middle name (we have one too: Quentin James!).

Love them together!

They sound good together, nice classic names.

Rupert is a bit of a wet name. Really like James, classic and lovely. If definitely using both I would reverse them.

landofsoapandglory · 19/03/2013 16:05

I like it.
