according to the daily mirror, samantha is in the top 20

I don't know a single Samantha under 30, it's not talked about on here, so who are all these people calling their children Samantha?

It's ok, but for a baby? I guess, why not? I like Melanie and Gillian.

I just think it needs to rest for a while longer, but it's not a terrible choice.

I know a six year old Samantha. My cat!

zipzap · 14/03/2013 22:54

Me :o - in my early 40s. But I tend to answer to Sam unless I am being told off by my mum Blush - being called Samantha by her makes me feel about 7 again!

I know several others around my sort of age - my mum heard the name on bewitched and liked it [sigh]

I don't know any little Samantha's. Or older Samantha's.

However there are lots of old and young male Sam's around - but I've met very few around my age. Which means that if people know I am a Sam they tend to expect a young or old man, or a 40s ish woman - sometimes they guess right, but often not, as Sam is getting so much more popular as a young boys name, it seems to be swinging back to being a default male name again instead of being an 'either or' one that it has been.

It's unusual for a name to have a totally different age range in USA. Iknow that not exactly the same names are popular, and some names like Eliza, Eloise would be mainstream here first, but only by about five years. Interesting that the name samantha has a totally different age bracket, by 20 odd years. I wonder why that is!?

Whydobabiescry · 14/03/2013 23:19

I was almost a Samantha Blushthankfully parents changed their mind, I'm in my forties, I don't know any baby or young Samanthas in fact I don't think I'm aware if one under 35!

Namechangeabc · 16/03/2013 20:29

One Samantha in DS1s class at school. One Samantha (Sammy) in DD's class in school. One neighbour has a grand-daughter Samantha (Sam) So I know 3, aging in range from 18 to 13.

Minty82 · 16/03/2013 21:04

I know one aged 32 and one aged 21...which seems to fit with what everyone else is saying about the British demographics.

starlightloz · 16/03/2013 21:05

I probably could think of a dozen, all a similar age to me, late 20's - early 30's.

ZZZenAgain · 16/03/2013 21:08

I know two, aged 10 and 12

Viviennemary · 16/03/2013 21:12

I don't know a single one personally. Though I know people who work with Samantha's or Sams. they're usually a pain. But that must be a coincidence. Grin

Viviennemary · 16/03/2013 21:13

I'm sure you are a really nice person TheFalconMistress. Backpeddling furiously!
