Struggling with unusual boys names

Welly558 · 19/02/2013 23:10

Hello,
So, if we have a girl we like Luna Violet.
We have a few boys names but non that I hugely love.
So far we have
Dexter
Ezra
Jude
Samson
Jonah

Anyone have any ideas for nice boys names? To go with a two syllable surname ending in Ee sound.

Jonah and Jude are both great names Smile
Not keen on the others.

ClipClapClop · 20/02/2013 06:25

2 of your names are great but not that unusual: Dexter - no 79 in 2012 in UK, Jude - No 81. I know a Jonah too. Just in case you desperately want it to be very unusual. How about Levi?

Romymum · 20/02/2013 08:44

How about Silver?

seeker · 20/02/2013 08:47

You do know that Luna will be called Loony, don't you.

SeventiesBush · 20/02/2013 08:47

Lev

ewaczarlie · 20/02/2013 08:47

Friend named her DS rio which I really like

Dinosaurhunter · 20/02/2013 08:47

I love Jude !
How about -
Jed
Brody
Luthais
Jesse

yawn Seeker, that's another thread. You do realise whatever you call your child, someone else could find a derogatory nickname. I could call them Sarah but if they were fat, skinny, short, tall, curly haired,pale...they would get an unkind nickname to suit that.
We had a girl called Ellen at school,a relatively simple 'normal' name. She got called 'Smellen'.It doesn't even make much sense but it followed her. There was a Dominic who would be called DomiDick.I find that much more offensive than being called a Loon.
But I guess you must love all my boys names seeing as you entirely ignored them, despite them being the thread subject.
Thank you everyone.Yeah maybe unusual wasn't the right adjective. More Kings of Leon ish is perhaps what we meant haha.Quite strong names.
DH loved Elijah but I just think Elijah Wood. I love Jesse but DH doesn't. Some nice ones to think of there though, thank you.Boys are much trickier for me to think of but that's because I think its a DD!

Galen
Piper
Torin
Merrick

Eskino · 20/02/2013 09:26

Love Samson and Jude. Jonah is a 'bad luck' name isn't it?

Do you mean, like, Amish names?

What about

Noah
John
Lemuel
Abraham
Gabriel?

Welly558 · 20/02/2013 09:38

Ooo 'bad luck'?! I don't know. Due to the whale issue or something else?
Ha yes I suppose Amish names then.Although DH would die if that was suggested. I love Merrick but DH associates it with Being Human.
I like Abe.We have a Noah in the family :-\

I don't watch Tv so didn't know the Being Human reference to Merrick - I know it as a hill. Place names can be good - especially for boys - e.g. Devon, Ross etc

or, how about:

Dorian
Alrid
Caleb

I liked Caleb but DH doesn't so its out.
DH keeps going to Ezra.I like it because its Biblical.
Ha I had never heard the 'bad luck' idea.I obviously know the Jonah and the Whale story which I agree,is a spot of bad luck to find yourself in :-)
I think it may end up being Dexter tbh. Always wanted Elliott for first child regardless of gender but hubby dislikes. Very much like Ellis but is our friends name. I also know a little Dorian! I love Felix but its been poo-pooed by DH.

Merrick was in Adam and the Ants wasn't he?

Sashapineapple · 20/02/2013 11:59

Dexter and Jude are great names. Dexter was on our list.

seeker · 20/02/2013 13:02

Dexter and Jude both in the top 100. If that bothers you- it wouldn't me, but you did say you wanted unusual!

MoppingMummy · 20/02/2013 14:17

I like Ezra best.

SVN · 20/02/2013 14:54

Gene
Rafferty
Rafe
Dashiell
Edgar
Griffin
Aldous
Jolyon
Jonty

Welly558 · 20/02/2013 17:34

Ha I didn't know about Adam and the Ants (plus it is a little before my time).
I love Nate but DH doesn't =( Boo!
We have a Seth and a Noah in the family although I love that name(Seth).
Saul is a good one, I like that. Will mention it to DH. Watch this space.
V much appreciate everyone's suggestions, so thank you.
I like Rafferty but not sure DH will. I also like Leif(Lay-fh) but DH said last night he would think on that one...perhaps not ha.
No it doesn't bother me that its in the Top100. It's rather that the names aren't popular within our community or that they will be at school with several.
