Struggling with unusual boys names

Welly558 · 19/02/2013 23:10

Hello,
So, if we have a girl we like Luna Violet.
We have a few boys names but non that I hugely love.
So far we have
Dexter
Ezra
Jude
Samson
Jonah

Anyone have any ideas for nice boys names? To go with a two syllable surname ending in Ee sound.

I really like Dexter. The others are too biblical for me - but that seems to be what you like! Rafferty and Leif are also more my style than those in your OP.
None of them are quite on a par with Luna though, which I love.

Cyrus (the sun)
Huxley (outdoorsman)
Obadiah (servant of God)
Raphael (God has healed)
Rex (king)
Thaddeus (heart)
Ugo (thinker)
Zephyr (ushers in springtime)

Love Dexter or how about
Quentin
Reuben
Magnus

Agree that all names are teaseable - there's a little William who gets called Willy and an Ellie who became Smellie! Unavoidable and not worth over-worrying about IMO.

Theo
Leo

I love Jude and Jonah, we have a Gabriel - and although I hear on MN and see in lists that their popularity is increasing I suppose that all depends on where you live? Having lived in North Lincs, North Yorks and West Yorks over the last 4-5 years we've only met 2 with the same name as our son?

Also love Elijah.

Most unusual boys names I've come across recently are

Soren
Zee
Hunter
Jessie

Know a couple of Saul's and love that name too!

Good Luck :)

Jonah should be a good luck story as he was saved from the whale and then saved the city of ninnevah, so that is all good stuff for a little boy to do!

....any help ? Keep it traditional I say ! Don't think you'll find another with the same name in their year at school...saying that, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if these names make a come back very soon !

What about Jonas (like Jonah but not with the bad luck) See the actor Jonas Armstrong (was Robin Hood in the recent BBC version)

Soren must be from Soren Lorenson in the Charlie and Lola books! He is Lola's invisible friend. (I mean I know the name had much more provenance but that's the pop-culture reference that jumps out at me)

Soren is the name of a rock stars son for me. He has Danish roots.

If you go with Dexter be prepared to be greeted by several Labradors when you call him in the park! I've met several dogs called Dexter.

I rather like Zephyr. I thought it meant gentle breeze.
