Girl's Names....narrowed down to four...what do you think?

Hiya, first post... am due April and we are (finally) having a girl - 3 years and 8 months of trying later.... :)

I suppose we tend to favour more vintagey names than anything too trendy, although I love pretty, girly names. Popularity isn't much of an issue as we live in the Channel Islands and the name trends seem to be somewhat different here...Opinions on the following would be great:

Isobel Alice
Matilda Lucy
Elowen May
Polly Jane

Our surname is one syllable, begins with G and is the colour of concrete :)

I would not go for Isobel Alice as with your G surname, her initials will be IAG= Information, advice and guidance!

I like Polly Jane or Matilda Lucy :)

Isobel Alice is beautiful.

Matilda Lucy is quite pretty too.

I also like Elowen, although I've never heard it before. She would probably end up being an Ellie, though, which I don't like as much as the shortened forms of the others. It is pretty and unusual, though.

Not as keen on Polly - a bit too cutesy, imo, once she gets a bit older.

A mixed bag...thanks for the suggestions too!

We are trying not to tell anyone in RL any name ideas and so far I've told everyone I'm calling her ''Otis'' (they know she's a girl lol)

Isobel Alice - Lovely but there are just so many Isobels out there. Love Alice
Matilda Lucy - Nice
Elowen May - OK
Polly Jane - Love Love Love Jane is rarely used these days so its nice to see it.

Just to add to your confusion can I suggest Polly Alice

I love Isobel Alice and Matilda Lucy. I'm not so sure on Elowen (and def don't use May Smile.
Polly Jane with your surname makes me think of Lady Jane Grey so I wouldn't use it, but anyone not into Tudor history probably wouldn't notice!

Isobel Alice is nice. Matilda is a lovely name. I actually was going to suggest Matilda May before you mentioned the issue with your surname. Not sure it goes with Lucy. Matilda Jane? Don't like Polly at all. Far too twee for me.
Congratulations as well. Know how it feels to wait a long time!

thanks guys - still no closer!

I suspect we are leaning toward Isobel and Matilda more than the other two, but not sure I am quite ready to strike them from the list just yet.

With it taking so long to conceive ''Otis'' we are pretty much convinced she will be our only one (plus my age and the Doctor's leaning toward calling me a 'geriatric mother' - I'm 34) and the pressure to get the name 'perfect' is a bit intense!

I wish I didn't overthink things...my cousin got to 9 months preg with little one, hadn't even discussed or considered names, happened to watch the Grand Prix on the afternoon before he was born and we now have a Jenson in the family. She says herself ''there was no thought process involved, I just liked the name there and then and named him it when he was born the next day...''

Stop overthinking, Grace!! :)

Isobel Alice is the prettiest, there are a lot of Isabelle/Isabella's about.

But both my DDs have pretty common names as do DH and me and it's not a problem.

Well I have to say that Isobel is the best Wink. All the very best people have that name :o. I like Alice or Lucy as middle names.

I used to love Isobel but there are sooo many Isabella's (blame twilight) love love Elowen maybe with another middle??? But actually i like rhyming (my dh vetoed a triple ryhme) Blush ps much congrats
