Hi, this is my first posting on mums net. I'm 30 wks pregnant with dc5. We have decided on a boys name but really struggling with girls names. I love
Kitty
Honey
Bella
Willow
I have 4 sons so may well use all of above if dc5 turns out to be a girl!!
Please give me your opinions. I love the name Kitty & was thinking of kitiana to go on birth certificate??

Just no. Kitty is fine, and if you don't want that for the birth certificate, Katherine is fine.

Ellypoo · 29/12/2012 22:28

I have never heard of Kitiana, and am not keen tbh. Katherine shortened to Kitty is lovely though, if you want a long name.

Just Kitty, or Katherine

Kitiana is really not a good idea

Had a friend at sixth form who was Kathleen, always called Kitty. It wasn't until results I actually found out her full name!

TheElfOnThePanopticon · 29/12/2012 22:49

For Kitty I would go with Katherine or one of its variants, but as Kit is short for Christopher you could probably go for Christine/Kirsten/Christobel/Christiane, Christiana etc.

FloellaDaVille · 29/12/2012 22:52

My friend has a Katerina, shortened to Kitty. Kitiana sounds like Renesmee from Twilight!

ManicMuppetMania · 29/12/2012 23:07

No way to Kitiana.....But I ADORE Kitty! Kitty Honey would be lovely!

ManicMuppetMania · 29/12/2012 23:08

I have heard Kitty used as a nn for Tabitha?!?

Queenie68 · 29/12/2012 23:35

Thanks for all your comments. My other concern is all the hello kitty merchandise around. Got a feeling we might get lots of smily cat faces from well wishers!
Would you mind rating these girl names please ...
Kitty
Honey
Bella
Willow
Ava (DH fav but I'm not so keen as it seems quite popular)
Indiana
Very grateful.....( that's not a name btw!!)

WhatWouldSantaDo · 29/12/2012 23:42

I like it.
You could give her three names with KIT as the initials, e.g. Kate Isobel Tamzin, and get Kitty that way?
Or how about Kimberley?

WhatWouldSantaDo · 29/12/2012 23:44

I love love love Indiana!
Second fave is Kitty.

Honey is bee puke, so that's a no from me.

The others are too mainstream for my liking.

SirBoobAlot · 29/12/2012 23:45

I like Bella, but as a nickname for Isobel, and there are a lot of them around right now.

Honey is ridiculous, sorry.

Willow is quite nice.

Ava is beautiful. How about Anya as something similar?

Indiana is a place name, so you would get endless, "Oh are one of you from there? Is it an important place to you? Was she conceived there?" type questions!

No to Kitiana and definitely no to Indiana. She'll spend her life being given whips and teased about the holy grail and the ark of the covenant.

Imabadmum · 29/12/2012 23:47

I love Willow. Also like Summer. Such graceful names.

Kitty is lovely, but why complicate things, just put Kitty on the birth cert? Ava is also great, haven't come across that one at our local primary or baby group, not sure it's that popular?

Imabadmum · 29/12/2012 23:47

Ps dont like Kitiana at all.

Why not just Kitty, if that's what you intend calling her on a daily basis .

Bella is good, very popular again due to Twilight

joanofarchitrave · 29/12/2012 23:57

Kitty is lovely and Kit is an incredibly cool version for when she's older, if she wants.

Willow is beautiful.

Bella is very pretty but too Twilight for me.

I wouldn't go for Honey myself as I call my husband, son, mother etc this, so could be confusing Grin

Suzieismyname · 30/12/2012 00:02

Kitty is lovely, why not just go with that and then have a more traditional middle name?

breatheslowly · 30/12/2012 00:05

Is Kitiana a name that other people have or is it made up? I'm not keen as it feels made up and I am not a fan of made up names. Kitty is good on its own, though it doesn't sound much like a high court judge's name.

moreyear · 30/12/2012 00:05

I have a Kitty (just Kitty it isn't short for anything) people always seem to love her name. I have never admitted it on mumsnet though as it is a dreaded 'K' name ;).
