I'd think their parents were a bit poncy.

Sorrry.

Changeforthrday · 18/12/2012 18:21

Moustache, mwahahahahaha, master criminal?

Rindercella · 18/12/2012 18:22

I would think the parents were massive Sherlock fans.

Kind of cute & quirky name though. Think I like it.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 18/12/2012 18:22

Oh dear. I'd think you were bonkers, sorry.

zeldapinwheel · 18/12/2012 18:22

That he'd grow up to be Sherlock Holmes evil arch nemesis

Acandlelitshadow · 18/12/2012 18:23

I'd wonder where Sherlock was.

SheilaWheeler · 18/12/2012 18:24

I'd think you were calling your cat

JustFabulous · 18/12/2012 18:24

I would wonder why they named their child after a cat.

UnexpectedItemInShaggingArea · 18/12/2012 18:25

Step. Away. From. The. Birth. Registration. Document. Now.

TwoFacedCows · 18/12/2012 18:25

I didn't know it was associated with Sherlock Holmes, and I have seen the film numerous time because DH is obsessed! Blush

I like it!

MaryBS · 18/12/2012 18:28

Bonkers mental (as Al Murray would say). Sorry!

HipposGoBerserk · 18/12/2012 18:30

I would hope he never had to leave North London.

CashmereHoodlum · 18/12/2012 18:32

Are you there, Moriarty?

onedev · 18/12/2012 18:32

I quite like it but would think the parents a bit cookie Grin

LauriesFairyonthetreeeatsCake · 18/12/2012 18:33

Fabulous rabbit or cat name, bonkers for humans.

akaemmafrost · 18/12/2012 18:35

It's a fab dog name! That's my next terriers name.

Viviennemary · 18/12/2012 18:37

I'd think oh a name worse than Ptolemy.

MulledPinot · 18/12/2012 18:38

Oh please don't.

Get a cat and call it that, but not a child.

Doshusallie · 18/12/2012 18:39

would immediately think of the bonkers game in One Day played by the awful posh family referenced up thread "Are you there Moriaty?"

StormyWeek · 18/12/2012 18:39

Sorry, but another no from me. It's an Irish surname, I think mainly from Co. Cork. All Irish people would think it odd, and I wonder if it would be shortened to Murray ( which I hate). I would think Sherlock first, and faux whacky second.
Sorry!

MulledPinot · 18/12/2012 18:40

I think sometimes people fall in love with words - and that's wonderful and has been around for ever (Shakespeare etc famously created words as he loved language so much).

But you have to be careful that your love of words doesn't mean your child ends up with a hindrance of a name. They may be shy, they may be introvert - it's a big ask for a child to have to 'live up' to a huge name.

I hope that makes sense. I'm all for doing what you want, but with careful though, that's all.

sweetkitty · 18/12/2012 18:41

Great name for a dog or cat sorry

MulledPinot · 18/12/2012 18:41

*thought

dammit

Vagaceratops · 18/12/2012 18:41

Could you use it as a middle name?

MaggieMaggieMaggieMcGill · 18/12/2012 18:41

It's the hormones messing with your head, don't let them win!
