Or a baby Malcolm? Baby Barry? Baby Kevin?

Just thinking about baby names you don't see very often now. Lots of retro/traditional names coming round again...Albie, Eric, Walter, Henry etc but will we ever see a resurgence of this middling names?!!

Baby Bernard anyone???

I know an 11yo Kevin actually.

I think there is a US connection tho which explains it.

Names like Nigel, Barry, Trevor etc are not of the same era as Walter and Albert. They are my dad's era, not my grandads, and will be trendy again in about 25 years' time. Grin

Met a friend of a friend on a train and was chatting. She kept talking about her son who was two or so referring to him as 'Nigel' I was nodding and smiling but thinking it was a really weird name for a two year old. However, over the noise of the train I eventually realised she was saying Elijah.

I know a baby Nigel who's just a few months old. Personally I'm really not keen - I thought the person who told me the name was joking! Hmm

A cat called Samantha is fantastic! My friend growing up had a cat called Colin and a dog called Tina! And I worked somewhere once where, on a home visit to a single older man, my colleague noticed a room where his dog slept with 'nicola's room' on the door!

I want a Bernard. Just so I can constantly say "Not NOW, Bernard"

Anyone owning up to a Baby Roy?

Grin and Sad at 'Nicola's Room' sign on the dog's bedroom door. Really sweet but I dread to think how these elderly people who love their pets so much handle it when the cat or dog dies.

I know a 7 year old Nigel and I recently met a 6 month (or so) baby called Brian Grin - It does seem very strange, but I suppose that is unfair. Looks like 70's names are coming back...

I'm amazed at all these Nigels of all ages emerging. I just couldn't do it to a child although it's nice that have each other for support.

I think all the Alans swarm in Scotland and study engineering. When I was in nz we used to joke that you couldn't negotiate a telecoms network contract without a scots engineer called Alan. All the big players had one.

It is definitely an engineer's name. An engineer who wears hiking boots and a Patagonia fleece at the weekend.
