What do you think? Do you know any? I like it but my dm says it is awful and reminds her of Cornelius which is awful, yet I keep coming back to it! Also I don't love any of the obvious nn, but would hope that within the family we would stick to full name.

Mine is actually known by her middle name (don't ask, long story) but she loves it. Our other 2 DDs have similar long names but use short versions everyday - DD1 has asked to be known as her full name in school since the end of P2

Cordeila is our youngest. I loved the Anne of Green Gables connection (my favourite since I was a little girl) it has several meanings. Celtic for Daughter of the Sea. Latin for Heart and she was the only daughter in King Lear who was faithful and true was she not (I could be wrong here lol)

Other names I loved

Isabella
Cecilia
Saskia
Delphine
Arianna
Josephine
Imogen
Corrinne/a
Celeste
Luisa/Lucille
Seraphine
Alexandra
Rosalyn
Penelope
Araminta

Nothing wrong with a poncetastic name Grin

It's nothing like cornelius. I think its lovely and original but not out there.

And I'm very picky. Your dm is insensitive.

HipHopOpotomus · 05/11/2012 09:26

My mother never approved of any of our name choices. Until a few years after when obviously they were miraculousy the BEST names ever and had been her suggestion HmmGrin

When I was a teenager I had a friend who had a friend (still following me?) called Cordelia. Didn't think anything of it. I think it's a lovely name. Shakespeare and Buffy reference in one... I think that's awesome Grin

I think it's lovely!!

Don't worry - my DM loathed the name we chose at first but now adores it as it 'is' my dd and she adores her. Your DM will come to love it!

All the comments have been so positive and I really love the name.... Off to persuade the dh now though I think he likes it anyway just needs a gentle nudge!
