What do you think? Do you know any? I like it but my dm says it is awful and reminds her of Cornelius which is awful, yet I keep coming back to it! Also I don't love any of the obvious nn, but would hope that within the family we would stick to full name.

Lovely name, but a bit Buffy the Vampire Slayer for me.

But she might be like Cordelia in Buffy!

bananaphone - you've made my day: Cordelia in King Lear as an "awful prissy wanker." I love it! She was annoyingly self-righteous wasn't she?

Wow mostly positive responses which is fantastic, must show this to dm! I would have thought it was a bit of a marmite name but seems that it is a bit of an underused jewel! I wonder would a teenager hate being called Cordelia though.....have any of you got a teenage Cordelia?

I love this, and it's on my short-list. I also love the nickname 'cordy' It's a nice alternative if they end up hating such a girly name.

Tis my DD's middle name. I love it. And the Shakespeare connection.

It's gorgeous and I actually quite like Cordy for a nn.

I know a 3 year old Cordelia, who goes by Celia which I think is lovely.

Love it.

I'm going to steal it for my girls name list even though Im never having another baby and if I did it would no doubt be another boy! Grin

I really like this name. So classy but fun too... but unfortunately it makes me feel sick hearing it or seeing it written! We watched the boxset of Brideshead Revisited when pregnant with my DD.....! I had severe morning sickness all winter, day and night and this name is forever associated with that time!

I've got one, but would never call her Cordy. "Cordy" just sounds like a handy appliance sold on one of them shopping channels.

I know one, it's a lovely name, the parents were Buffy fans though.

I think I am liking the suggestion of Dahlia as a nn I also like Cece...... Though I think I may only use Cordelia if at all possible, as I'm not a huge fan of shortening names.
