the name Lucifer is a beautiful one, but would you be brave enough to use it considering that it is the biblical name for the devil?
I'm not sure i would.

Well, Lucifer is one of the names for the Dark Lord, and the bad cat in Disney's 'Cinderella'.

Neither have positive connotations.

Lucien is a nice alternative, sound-wise, IMO.

Thank you Sophy. It was indeed a masterpiece

StormGlass · 11/09/2012 15:01

No, I would most definitely not name a child after the devil.

I'm wondering why you're asking, though, OP. Has someone you know named (or is considering naming) a child this?

PandaWatch · 11/09/2012 15:26

You even have to be careful with Lucien - there is a certain person high up in a certain branch of the entertainment industry (trying to keep it as vague as possible!!) who is called Lucien but is more commonly known as Lucifer. So if your child is remotely naughty don't be surprised if that nn develops!

I'd be amazed if you'd be allowed to register Lucifer as a baby name.

The Christening would be fun though, if they had one.

noddyholder · 11/09/2012 17:12

Just no.

pumpkinsweetie · 11/09/2012 17:13

It sounds beautiful, but is the name of the devil so no-one should call their child it imo.
Lucian, Luca or Luke are much better alternitives

amck5700 · 11/09/2012 18:14

Dante maybe?

Lucien sounds extremely wet.

littleducks · 11/09/2012 18:19

I'm always abut Hmm at Cain, so definitely not Lucifer

Purplecatti · 11/09/2012 18:44

yeah sure why not? You could have the middle name Darth Vadar or Voldemort whilst you're at it
