the name Lucifer is a beautiful one, but would you be brave enough to use it considering that it is the biblical name for the devil?
I'm not sure i would.

When my friend had her DD she was on a ward with a young (16-18ish IIRC) who'd had a boy and wanted to call him Lucifer.

My friend had to explain to her who Lucifer was as the girl had no idea, she'd just heard the name and thought it was 'nice and unusual'.

BreeVanDerTramp · 10/09/2012 21:54

You know your Beelzebub hon Confused

Forwardscatter · 10/09/2012 22:04

How about Satan? You save a syllable and it's almost guaranteed that he'd be the only one in his class with that name
WIN.

Cynner · 10/09/2012 22:19

I was thinking the same thing! Imagine their mum ringing up for a play date!

MadBusLady · 10/09/2012 22:21

NO.

You haven't come across it, OP, have you?

MadBusLady · 10/09/2012 22:22

Remembering random Birds of a Feather quote: "What about Adolf? That's a nice name, why does no-one use Adolf?"

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 10/09/2012 22:22

No, dont be so stupid!

scarlettsmummy2 · 10/09/2012 22:23

How lovely! What a pleasant name with a wonderful meaning.

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 10/09/2012 22:25

It's not the fact that the name has religious connotations that would bother me but that you're setting him up for a lifetime of expectations that he will be naughty, live up to his name etc.

Hassled · 10/09/2012 22:25

I had a friend called Lucy who was once asked if it was short for Lucifer. Her parents were apoplectic :o.

gettinganumbbum · 10/09/2012 22:26

My dad wanted to call me jezebel so glad he didn't Grin

Also my ds has a very interesting first and middle name that always gets a Hmm from people but I liked it and think it suits him Grin

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 10/09/2012 22:27

TheOriginalSteamingNit · 10/09/2012 22:27

Mephistopheles is much classier.

ArielThePiraticalMermaid · 10/09/2012 22:27

I mean, why not? Really? It's just a name, right?

chickydoo · 10/09/2012 22:28

How about Stormageddon The Dark Lord of All?

chipmonkey · 11/09/2012 00:04

When I was around 3, I was given a doll one Christmas. A bunch of relatives were standing around and asked my what I was going to call her. My uncle quipped "Jezebel"
And I thought it was a lovely name and I called her that! She was called that for around 12 years until I found out what it meant! I must have been the laughing stock of my Mum's friends and she let me call the doll that!

TalHotBrunette · 11/09/2012 00:18

It is a beautiful name. But you just can't! Grin
