What do you think of Peggy?

Just wondering what anybody thinks of Peggy for a baby girl? DH wants to name our DD3 after his Grandma. Her real name was Margaret which I don't like at all but everyone knew her as Peggy. I know that it is a popular name I France but I've never actually come across a child named Peggy. Honest opinions please :)

I love it, but I do think it is a nickname for Margaret, so I am not sure I would go for Peggy as the full name. I adore Margaret!!!

I would always have the full name on the birth cert. Even if you call her Peggy.
Margaret is a nice name. The little ones I know are shortened to Maggie or Meg.

I love it. And that's why I called my kitten Peg ;-)

But seriously, I think it's a lovely name. Margaret on birth certificate though.

I LOVE it think it's a beautiful name. My great aunt was a Peggy christened just that not short for anything.

I know a Peggy who is not quite a year old, I think it's a lovely name!

I like Margaret but can never understand why you would want Peggy. If you put Margaret on the birth certificate it leaves her options open.

My car's called Peggy-Sue. My DH wouldn't countenance the name Peggy for a girl because of the potential for confusion.

I know a little girl called Meghi (Meggy) which I love - prefer it to Peggy though can't saw why. I also love Meg and Maggie as nn. Lovely name, and if it has personal meaning then all the more reason to use it!

Makes me think of Swallows and Amazons.

It's a nickname! Call her Margaret/Megan/Marguerite/Margareta/Margarita on the birth certificate and Peggy in real life.

Peggy is nice but I prefer Maggie.

My great nan was Peggy. On its own not short for Margaret. I like it.

There were a few girls named Peggy in France in the late 70s / early 80s but there are less than 10 a year nowadays (it is not even in the top 5000).

I have to say that I know it as a nickname and I hate Margaret as a name.

Much prefer Edie or Nancy.

My Mum was Margaret, My Grandma was Margaret NN Peggy. It makes me feel all warm inside!

I like it but would put Margaret/Marguerita on the BC.

I don't like it sorry I fear the piggy association for young children and I think it's very fusty and boring.
For some reason it reminds me of someone with a wooden leg. I have no idea why that is though.
