A brother for Milo, Caspar?

Well the title says it all really, am struggling for names for soon to be DS 2. I have much older girls (20,17 and 15 called Sofia, Faith and Grace) and a three yo DS named Milo so i want something that will sound nice with Milo
Iyswim ?

I liked Elliot too but dh isn't keen on the surnames for 1st names thing. I literally cannot think of a nice boys name for our DS2 (due at Christmas) dh isn't that keen on Caspar because of the friendly ghost connotation but as I pointed out Milo ( and Jake) for that matter were Tweenies!

VolAuVent · 09/08/2012 09:47

I like Caspar!

Milo and...

Theodore (Theo)
Jasper
Austin
Samson
Edwin
Benedict
Tristan
Sebastian
James
Gabriel

I love the name Caspar and really love the name Milo by the way!

Its difficult when OH doesn't like any names you like...having this.problem myself.

rosieposey · 09/08/2012 10:04

Not keen on Felix but Gabriel and Theodore were on my list for DS1. There have been an explosion of both names around here of them recently and although I love them both Caspar seems a little less popular and is quite Christmassey.

Jasper is the anglicised version of Caspar apparently and DH isn't keen on that either. I really like Benedict too but someone I know lost her lo recently with that name and I wouldn't want to hurt her by choosing that name.

Gah, girls names are soooo much easier!

Mummabug DH hated Milo ( as do most of my family) but he thinks it really suits him now. When I was pg with DS1 I said if you can come up with something better than Milo then we can go with that bu t he couldn't.

My mum has said if we call DS2 Caspar she will call him something else as its embarrassing ( ahem she called my sister suzette Sharon ffs! ) so getting a lot of resistance to Caspar but you can't please everyone I suppose, just wish dh liked it more that's all.

I love Caspar. It is on the top of my list if I have another boy. Obviously you have the Caspar the friendly ghost issue to consider but I disregarded that until I heard that they might be remaking the film soon. Still a wonderful name though that I hope to use too.

mummabug · 09/08/2012 10:17

I like both but prefer Caspar to Jasper. Caspar is lovely for little one and a grown man.

My short list consists of Gabriel, Milo and Caspar (always thought I would stick with Milo but a few people have mentioned the tweenies!! But like you said you can't please everyone).

What do your family think of Milo now? Can't see how Caspar is embarrassing..its annoying when peoples reactions ruin a name you like. Perhaps just go with it regardless as whatever you choose Will be disliked or liked by different people.

What names does your OH want?

rosieposey · 09/08/2012 10:32

Well they aren't obvious about not liking milo anymore but for example when I said we were considering Caspar my mum said ' milo was bad enough but Caspar?' and my sister in law said Milo is a dogs name ( which i suppose it is for some people but my neighbours have a cat called Dave! )

Dh just dislikes most of what I like but doesn't really have any great ones of his own Hmm so I asked him to come up with some ... Nothing yet though.

I think Milo suits all ages and I think Caspar will too - kind of hope they don't make another movie though.

Ha! Well your mother and you obviously don't share the same taste she obviously has bad taste ;)

Same here with my OH - hates everything I come up with, but no plausible suggestions himself!

Go with Caspar I reckon :) I do really like Gabriel but if it was popular in my area I would defo go for Caspar!

mummabug · 09/08/2012 11:14

And fingers crossed they cancel the remake movie!

Thingymajigs · 09/08/2012 11:16

Dreamworks have bought the rights to Casper the friendly ghost (subtle spelling difference) so it's worth bearing that in mind if it might bother you. I love the name so I wouldn't let that put me off but apart from mild teasing perhaps Caspar might become really popular in a few years as a result of a remake. shrugs
Do you think your OH might come round to the idea after a while?

rosieposey · 09/08/2012 11:21

Ha ha he might as long as I don't tell him about the remake. I honestly can't think of another name ( that isn't super popular now ) that I like.

Just feign ignorance on that one. Like seriously, how were you supposed to know? Grin Besides, it might not even happen, it's just a rumour at the moment.

Badgerina · 09/08/2012 12:11

Milo and Caspar sound (and look) LOVELY together - I just love the name Caspar, but I have an Oscar already (bit too similar to Caspar) and my DH doesn't like it either Sad I think you should stamp your foot a bit and go with Caspar. Gorgeous name Smile

rosieposey · 09/08/2012 13:31

I don't think he has anything else lined up ( a bit like when I was pg with ds1) so its probably going to be Caspar, Like thimgamajigs said feign ignorance. Oscar is a great name :) men have no imagination sometimes!

Beaniebots · 09/08/2012 19:46

Caspar - that was my Dh name of choice if we had a boy but we had a girl! Know another Caspar who is 4 and all the girls love him!

TremoloGreen · 10/08/2012 19:49

Milo and...

Henry
Freddie (Frederick)
Noel
Rupert
Hector
Louis (pr. Louie)
