I've never liked it much. It is my middle name.

RubeCube · 01/08/2012 18:28

Pretty

johnnycomelurky · 01/08/2012 18:29

Love it!

hectorthestandbyhawk · 01/08/2012 18:31

Excellent!

cookielove · 01/08/2012 18:32

Love it

nomoreminibreaks · 01/08/2012 18:33

It was always my preferred name for a girl, until I met my husband whose surname rhymes with the shortened form of it Angry

evamummy · 01/08/2012 18:33

There are a lot of little Emilia/Amelia/Emily/Amelies around already.

MamaLazarou · 01/08/2012 19:00

Overused.

VolAuVent · 01/08/2012 19:11

Lovely :)

PorkyandBess · 01/08/2012 19:16

Too common. I reckon I know about 7.

HappyCamel · 01/08/2012 19:17

Amelia is fine, if a little over used. I'm not sure the new spelling does it any favours, she'll be forever correcting people.

mogandme · 01/08/2012 19:19

It looks like it's spelt wrong but I know alot of Amelia's.

Clawdy · 01/08/2012 19:30

The little Emilia I know is half-Italian. I love that spelling of the name. The correcting thing happens with so many names (Catherine, anyone?)that it's not worth worrying about.

tara0202 · 01/08/2012 19:32

I love Emilia. I only know of one.

swampster · 01/08/2012 19:37

New spelling? Confused It is my spelling too. I am over 40, I was given the name as it had been my great-grandmother's name.

doublevodkaandcoke · 01/08/2012 21:17

I think it is really pretty, however it just smacks of 'I like the name Amelia, but there are so many about that I am going to use this spelling to be that little bit different'.

Jac1978 · 01/08/2012 21:34

Lovely, better than Emily as it would suit an adult

Emphaticmaybe · 01/08/2012 21:41

Beautiful - works for both young and old and has lovely nicknames too - Em, Emmy etc

EllenParsons · 01/08/2012 21:57

Emilia is much nicer than Amelia I think, but a lot of people will mishear it as Amelia.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 01/08/2012 22:00

I like it a lot. Few Amelia's around here, no emilias.

I was thinking of using it in the place of Emily which is a family name.

stclair · 02/08/2012 16:03

It is pretty, my dh's favourite name for our next dd but to honest I find it a bit of a mouthful.

PicklesThePottyMouthedParrot · 02/08/2012 19:17

Four sillybulls. It is a bit!

takethatlady · 02/08/2012 20:31

Love it. Emilia is a different name to Amelia (different root) but equally old.

Much prefer it to Amelia, and think it elegant and pretty and classic. I'd use it except my DH hates it (he is annoying!) and then our daughter's godparents just used it for their baby, so it's out. Love it, though.

Gingerbreadlatte · 03/08/2012 17:08

Someone said over used by I've never heard of a baby Emilia.

Maybe is a regional thing? I'm in southeast.

newby2 · 03/08/2012 17:30

My name is Emily and it's nice to have Ems Emmy as nic names when growing up. I really like my name as an adult too. We love Emilia for the nic name reason too and its very elegant.
