Dexter?

Not sure if its pretentious or not...

Really great name. Strong in it's own right, unusual but not out there wacky, and a good shortening Dex (which I hadn't thought about before).

I say breed of cow if your were caling him Friesian - but I don't thing cattle for Dexter, and I wouldn't think cattle if you said the name Angus to me. They are boys names in their own right.

I like Dexter go for it! I also really like Jasper, Ellis and Tobias but I wasn't allowed any of them plus our little one turned out to be a girl anyway!

We have a 10 week old Dexter. Lovely name!

Sorry I don't like it - Charlotte Church called her son Dexter! A bit common now as well.

DS3 is Dexter - I couldn't give a stuff what Others think but so many Friends and Family have commented how much they like it.

I like it a lot. And nice shorterning to Dex. I wouldn't get it past my DH though. I think I prefer Felix though which is sort of similar...

I loved Dexter as I wanted a jazz name for a boy but have been put off because of the stupid serial killer programme. Gutted - it's a great name. Go for it if you love it as people will forget about the programme after a few years

Don't worry if it's the same name as a fictional serial killer. Every name can be related to someone you know, someone off the tele or someone you knows children. Just go with whatever you like! Plus what's already been said is that people will forget about the program in a while!
