I don't think that it would be pretentious but I also don't like it at all

sarahseashell · 29/07/2012 21:38

I like it Smile

Ratbagcatbag · 29/07/2012 21:38

Love it love it love and would use it if a very close friend hadn't. :)

ThePieSmuggler · 29/07/2012 21:39

I like it but it does make me think serial killer

tanfastic · 29/07/2012 21:40

I love it and wanted it as my ds's first name but we couldn't agree so I've got a Samuel Dexter Grin

oo yes, serial killer. Also a bit dorky, really, like Poindexter.

Allalonenow · 29/07/2012 21:41

Do you want to name your baby after a breed of cattle?

devonsmummy · 29/07/2012 21:41

Love it , was on my list but vetoed by Dh
The only Dexter is far from pretentious.
A lovely smiley, genuine guy Smile

devonsmummy · 29/07/2012 21:41

The only Dexter I know

SrirachaGirl · 29/07/2012 21:42

Serial Killer. Sorry Sad.

SausageSmuggler · 29/07/2012 21:43

My DS is called Dexter, not that it's important but pretty much everyone comments on how cool his name is. Fab name IMO Wink.

MrsJohnDeere · 29/07/2012 21:44

Not pretentious but not very nice IMHO. Getting popular too.

SausageSmuggler · 29/07/2012 21:46

Meant to add that DH and I get asked if he's named after the programme (we love it but no, he's not) but I figured that the kids at school aren't going to be making comments so it's a non issue really. I'm really trying to get him into dexters lab though Grin.

WithACherryOnTop · 29/07/2012 23:02

Definitely not pretentious, but not a nice name either imho.I hate it. It has an unpleasant sound.

pinkyp · 29/07/2012 23:03

He's a nice serial killer tho Wink

Badgerina · 30/07/2012 00:56

I like it. Its not pretentious.

lisaro · 30/07/2012 03:34

The opposite of pretentious. Naff.

FreelanceMama · 30/07/2012 04:27

I know a couple of little boys called Dexter. I think it's quite popular now... My theory is a lot of Mumswho were Press Gang fans are having boys now Smile along those lines we had Fletcher as a possible for our son.

SausageSmuggler · 30/07/2012 08:19

Freelance I'm a couple of years too young for Press Gang (watched repeats) but do have a bit of a soft spot for Dexter Fletcher. Annoyingly we do like the name Fletcher but if we ever had another DS I don't think we could do it.

victoriassponge · 30/07/2012 08:40

Hmm interesting comments thanks. Had made the press gang connection but not the serial killer - showing my age!

Our Dexter Miles is gorgeous! Chubby cheeks and freckles! Calls himself Dex as he now feels 'grown up' (aged 7) !!

BitterAndTwistedChairDodger · 01/08/2012 01:34

I wanted to call my GSD puppy Dexter, but was vetoed.

Not sure that will help you either way, sorry. Blush

crochetcircle · 01/08/2012 13:47

Great name - i'd use it if we were having a boy. Defo not pretentious (moi?!)

sparkle12mar08 · 01/08/2012 14:45

I agree with most here it seems - to me it's either a breed of cow or Dexter Fletcher. Not dissimilar really...
