Rebecca, Jemima, Fiona or Julia?

We're a bit stuck with girls names if imminent DC3 is a girl, and keep going around in circles discussing the following shortlist:

Rebecca
Jemima
Fiona
Julia (which, although I love, I don't like it shortened. Caroline was discarded for the same reason - love Caroline but less keen on Carrie/Caz etc).

with Beatrice as the middle name.

Would be grateful for thoughts on the above/other suggestions - thanks in advance

Rebecca Beatrice is a lovely combo IMO.

The others are perfectly nice names as well

Whirliwig72 · 28/07/2012 17:03

I love Jemima but not sure it goes with the middle name. Think it has to be one syllable - ie Jemima Jane or Jemima May. Smile

bushymcbush · 28/07/2012 17:05

I love Jemima and I think it works well with Beatrice.

LadyofWinterfell · 28/07/2012 17:06

I'm a Julia, and my name was never shortened till i met DH.

Is your surname long or short?

Don't think Fiona goes with Beatrice imo.

Rebecca or Julia

Both are lovely

Julia is my favourite by quite a bit

Daya · 28/07/2012 17:07

I love Fiona - very unfussy and not very popular with this generation.

Julia a nice classic.

Rebecca a don't like as dislike 'Becca' as a nickname.

Jemima is a bit frilly imo.

SESthebrave · 28/07/2012 17:07

Rebecca Beatrice is beautiful :)

Rebecca

TBH they can (and will) all be shortened. You can enforce a 'no shortening' rule in the early years but as soon as she goes to secondary (and prob before) her friends will end up shortening it, and she'll think it's cool and will insist on being called Jules or Bex or Fi or Jem. Twas ever thus!

Personally I think Julia and Rebecca are both lovely.

SoontobeOutnumbered · 28/07/2012 17:11

Thanks for all the quick replies! Surname is 2 syllables. Begins with R, and while I don't think alliteration in names always works, it does seem to be fine with Rebecca.

AreYouAbleMabel · 28/07/2012 18:24

100% for Jemima all the rest are just blah compared to Jemima it's beautiful and goes lovely with Beatrice!

bradbourne · 28/07/2012 21:36

I think Julia is lovely. Like the others, too. Not sure that Fiona Beatrice flows all that well, though.

CharlieBoo · 28/07/2012 21:38

Jemima is best by far...

The others are very a bit 80's for me..

WanderingOkapi · 28/07/2012 21:41

Another vote for Rebecca

olimpia · 28/07/2012 21:51

Too many Rebeccas at the moment. I think Julia is lovely.
