I have just named my dd2 (12 days old!) Claudia! Love it! My dd1 is called Isabella of that helps.....

DawnOfTheDee · 07/07/2012 08:22

I think Nancy is lovely. Out of your list I like Estelle or Naomi. Both great names, not too overused and both 'go' with Claudia (which is also fab btw).

SleepyFergus · 07/07/2012 08:22

I do like Alexandra though....

GaryTankCommander · 07/07/2012 08:22

Congratulations!

I dislike Nancy, Estelle and Naomi and I think Lydia is too close to Claudia and wouldn't work.

DawnOfTheDee · 07/07/2012 08:23

Oops! Forgot to say CONGRATULATIONS! Thanks

GaryTankCommander · 07/07/2012 08:23

Out of your list I think Alexandra is the nicest.

exoticfruits · 07/07/2012 08:30

Louisa is my favourite-followed by Naomi and Alexandra. Don't care for the rest.

Sara13 · 07/07/2012 08:30

Ah thanks for your kind words, congratulations to you too Sleepy Fergus, lovely choice in name... I get lots of compliments on the name Claudia.... Its funny I was going to go with Nancy but she was 9lb 11 when born my other 3 have been 7lb something so she didnt look "dainty" enough to look like a Nancy to me and I thought more like an Alexandra.....its so hard and everyone keeps asking .....you would think 20 weeks would give you enough time to choose....

Its great to get impartial views on it too.... xx

Do you have a middle name already sorted? Not trying to complicate things further but you could look at which name goes best with it?

DawnOfTheDee · 07/07/2012 08:35

And take all the time you need.....ignore others (I know how hard that can be though!0

VolAuVent · 07/07/2012 08:38

I like Alexandra, Lydia, Naomi and Louisa from your list, but think Lydia is too similar in sound to Claudia. I think Louisa or Naomi would work best with Claudia.

Claudia and...

Lucy
Natalie
Marianne
Phoebe
Grace
Violet
Emily
Serena
Jessica
Frances
Sarah
Ruby
Harriet
Rowena
Juliet
Emmeline
Felicity

COCKadoodledooo · 07/07/2012 08:38

Congratulations Grin

Might be too similar to Claudia, but I love the meaning of Audrey (noble strength). Or Deborah. From your list I like Alexandra and Lydia best.

Does Claudia have any suggestions of her own?! Ds1 helped us pick ds2's name.

Sara13 · 07/07/2012 08:39

Thanks Dawn, i'll probably use the name I dont choose as the middle name along with my Mums name as thats what ive done with the other kids ... Yes I'm trying my best to ignore.... DH is being useless at helping me make the final decision too.... xxx

I love the name Nancy. Go for it if it's what you like. My mum didn't like my nephew's name at all to start with, but she was saying the other day how she doesn't really know why she didn't like it now, and she can't imagine him being called anything else!
I also know a Nancy, and she's lovely.

TodaysAGoodDay · 07/07/2012 10:01

I like Alexandra and Estelle best. Congratulations.

Frikadellen · 07/07/2012 10:43

If you have a dd named something as unusual and beautiful as Claudia I really wouldnt go with the normal bog standard names like Alexandra or Lydia I think she will always feel like she just got a name that was ok (my sil feels this way about her name so yes it can happen) If you love Nancy go with it but if not out of your list I love Estelle and Louisa (the last has a nice little change to it with the a sound) how about Eloisa? Marcia is pretty and Erica will certainly be unusual but I suspect may be a bit of a marmite name

PrettyInDecadence · 07/07/2012 11:28

How about Annie? Claudia and Annie sounds adorable together!

MrClaypole · 07/07/2012 11:37

I like Estelle and Naomi the best!

Congratulations!

MrsJohnDeere · 07/07/2012 12:18

Erica or Lydia or Nancy.

Fwiw, I don't think of Nancy as a delicate name. The ones I've known in RL are/were sturdy horsey types.

mrstowers · 07/07/2012 12:19

Definitely Alexandra!

amck5700 · 07/07/2012 12:45

Alexa
Julia
Jennifer
jenna
Stella

mumbaisapphire · 07/07/2012 14:43

I too don't think of Nancy as being a delicate name. I associate it with Nancy from Oliver so think of strong feisty women. I'd go with it if you love it. Claudia is my number one pick if I have a girl. 2nd and third on the list are Lydia and Gabriella. Hope that helps.

SleepyFergus · 07/07/2012 15:11

Oh I love Gabriella. I actually wanted that for dd1 but I think it was a bit 'out there' for DH so I 'compromised' and went with Isabella (which was actually a very close 2nd on my list!)

With Claudia, I think DH felt I had to have the choice given I'd given birth with no pain relief after a mad dash to the hospital, narrowly avoiding a hard shoulder delivery!

HandMadeTail · 07/07/2012 15:15

Would you have wobbled if your mum hadn't said anything? If not, stick with Nancy. Your mum had her chance to name her DC, now it's your turn.
