Ok, so we had decided on Dorothy but hubby came home a couple of days ago and announced he had gone off the name as is worried it wont grow with her..Can see where he is coming from as see myself with a cute 3 year old Dorothy and of course when she's much older it will suit but its those teenage/twenties and thirties where she may well hate us for calling her it!..
So..we ve done our lists again and the above are the ones we can agree on...
Thoughts on above names and any other suggestions will be greatly appreciated..We have a boy already called George.... :)

Molly, Lily and Heidi are all the names of Kerry Katona's daughters! Ruby is
very nice and I really like Dorothy - Dorrie, Dolly or Dottie for short.

DangerMousey · 06/07/2012 13:23

I love Molly because you can shorten it to Mol which I think is cool and a bit more grown up (she might like it as a teenager for example). All lovely apart from Heidi IMO.

kahlua4me · 06/07/2012 13:24

i like Dorothy and also Heidi.

The others are very popular at the moment so lots of others around.

ChippingInNeedsCoffee · 06/07/2012 13:27

It's difficult isn't it.

Personally, I don't like Dorothy, but if you do, I think you should stick with it. To me it is an older persons name, moreso than a childs! It's very adaptable though her life if she wishes it to be (Dot, Dora, Dotty, Dorothy - even Ruth at a push).

I like all the others in your title too. I wasn't keen on Heidi, but I met a little Heidi the other day and she was adorable and really suited the name, so it has changed my opinion! :)

jujak · 06/07/2012 13:27

Ohhhhh no AnnaNimitty i didnt think of that!!!!!!!! Right back to the drawing board!!haha

They're all horribly cutesy and done to death. And Anna's Katona observation is the final nail in the coffin.

At least Dorothy is original. And I love the idea of a 3 year old Dot or Dottie. It's rather cool.

jujak · 06/07/2012 13:31

I have had mixed reports with Dorothy and I do worry its a little too 'old'.. I know George is but i think old boy names are classed as strong whereas with a girl she can just have an old lady name and it doesnt suit..Plus dont like Dot (Dot Cotton) so guess Dorothy is out......

Never felt as stressful deciding last time and we were in same situation with a shortlist even when i went into hospital!

Maybe it will just be a case of what she looks like.......Confused

There are very few people who know, or care, what KK's children are called, I wouldn't let that affect your decision Grin

talkingnonsense · 06/07/2012 13:33

How about Theodora? I think its the same name as Dorothy?

jujak · 06/07/2012 13:34

Yes Bunny i totally agree with the Katona thing.

As for Dorothy she wont be 3 forever and guess she may hate it as she grows up... I guess we should think would we want to be called it and then we have our answer?!

Arghhhhhh so hard!

That is also so true ChippingInNeedsCoffee.... Think we just have to decide what we like and that be that as people will always sit in both camps....

Interesting to hear peoples views though :)

How about Daisy?

I know a very cute Dotty but and not sure about it as a grown up name either.

If you have Dorothea she could be Thea when she's older if she wanted?

RunnerHasbeen · 06/07/2012 13:39

Dorothea, then Thea to carry her through the teenage years?

DumSpiroSpero · 06/07/2012 13:40

BTW Molly is my favourite of your title names - I think it works well with Molly too.

Viviennemary · 06/07/2012 13:42

I like all the names in your title. My current favourite name I think is Iris.

MrClaypole · 06/07/2012 13:46

If you like Dorothy, how about some other 1920s- style names? Eg

Nancy
Margot
Marianne
Vivienne/Vivi
Lois
Delphine/ Delphi
Audrey
Cora
Lilian

jujak · 06/07/2012 13:46

I had Iris on my list but couldnt convince hubby..Maybe i need to work on him as he wanted Ivy and its kinda similar Wink

Yes i like Nancy but hubby doesnt...

PommePoire · 06/07/2012 13:48

Thea/Dorothea suggestion from Runner is excellent - assuming you like Thea as a stnad alone name which I do.

BangOffTrend · 06/07/2012 13:51

I like Heidi best. Pretty but feisty too. I know dread KK's daughter's called that but who cares?
Love Dorothy but that's because there was an uber cool and pretty girl called Dorothee at school. I'm sure she is wearing it well as a grown up now.

Too many Mollys here and that's not even counting the dogs.

George wonderful. Would love that for a 4th DS.

softpaw · 06/07/2012 14:09

Well done on George .Think about Matilda....it's a great name..my girl loves it

manicinsomniac · 06/07/2012 14:21

My order of preference would be:

Molly
Heidi
Lily
Dorothy
Ruby

pilates · 06/07/2012 15:19

Lily first and then Ruby.

VolAuVent · 06/07/2012 15:33

I like Lily, Ruby and Dorothy, and think they are all fine for any age :)

squeak2392 · 06/07/2012 16:14

I like Molly and Lily best. Personally, I'm just put off by Lily's immense popularity, but I guess if you have George that doesn't really bother you!
