My dh has got his heart set on it but i am worried she may get picked on. it is Domino for a girl.

Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
MrsHelsBels74 · 21/06/2012 13:28

Erm I wouldn't chose it myself.

SoozyWoozy · 21/06/2012 13:29

No, definitely not.

Domino's pizza.... not to mention the slang term for 'vagina'.....

mumofjust1 · 21/06/2012 13:29

Yes, too unusual. I would put my foot down if I were you op

DELHI · 21/06/2012 13:30

Not for me either - it's just not a name( its a game) What about Dominique?

BlueChampagne · 21/06/2012 13:30

A dog or a horse. God help her if she gets teenage spots. Think that one's got to be crossed off the list with a thick black permanent marker.

Mama1980 · 21/06/2012 13:31

Don't mind it in itself but definately wouldn't as the associations are kinda unfortunate.

GnocchiNineDoors · 21/06/2012 13:33

Your husband is silly. Domino is not a name for a human.

Dominique at a push.

And then you'll be complaining she's bullied at school...

MagdalenaAlec · 21/06/2012 13:44

Between the pizzas and the porn name "Domina", your DD will have a 100% chance to be bullied.
Dominique/Dominica, Dounia, Dana, Danae, Domitia, Domitille/Domitilla are way safer.

MonaLotte · 21/06/2012 13:45

She will be bullied with a name like that sorry.

RGPargy · 21/06/2012 13:46

Erm..... yes. Too unusual. Definite bully fodder.

KatieMca · 21/06/2012 13:51

Like the idea sound of it, but also think pizza....sorry

ScorpionQueen · 21/06/2012 13:52

Wasn't Domino a female assassin played by Keira Knightly? I prefer Nikita.
:)

MissRepresentation · 21/06/2012 13:52

It's not an unusual word. It's not a name either, unless maybe for a dog.

KatieMca · 21/06/2012 13:53

If you want a very honest view from a wider audience try posting it on: www.DecisionMonkey.com

tiddleypompom · 21/06/2012 13:54

She could be a Bond Girl? Particularly if you have an amusing surname to top it off :o

language · 21/06/2012 13:56

well, I wouldn't call a child Domino and not even Dominique (because of the French song with an ambiguous meaning - Dominique nique, nique means "Domimique f...s and f..s)
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominique

AdventuresWithVoles · 21/06/2012 14:02

Dominique, Nicki as nn, I think fine.

Frontpaw · 21/06/2012 14:04

Didn't Jane Seymore play Domino in a Bond film?

Its a thing, not a name. DH over-ruled.

Number44 · 21/06/2012 14:11

Isn't it a Jackie Collins character?

leelteloo · 21/06/2012 14:16

It's not too unusual, it's stupid. Sorry

BringBack1996 · 21/06/2012 14:25

I know a lovely Domenica, you could maybe use that and use the nickname Domino within family?

mylittleprincess3455 · 21/06/2012 14:59

NO way

CaoNiMa · 21/06/2012 15:29

My best friend's 27-year-old sister is called Domino, and she loves her name.
