What do you think when you first hear or see it?

I love it. It's one of my very favourite names. To me it sounds very 17th century.

ShatnersBassoon · 12/06/2012 14:55

I think cat. Then I think little girl.

knittedslippersx3 · 12/06/2012 14:57

I love it. It was second on my list for dd!

nizlopi · 12/06/2012 14:57

very twee

Same as Shatners, sorry!

squoosh · 12/06/2012 15:16

Lots of people do think 'cat'. That's not awful though is it? Better than conger eel or tape worm.

PurplePidjin · 12/06/2012 15:29

Cat. Especially as an acquaintance of mine insists on referring to her ickle pwincess Tabby kitten...

Yes, this is on The Evil Farcebook Hmm

birdofthenorth · 12/06/2012 16:13

Love love love this name. DH did not.

birdofthenorth · 12/06/2012 16:14

PS I was told DD's name is a horse's name, so the cat thing wouldn't bother me. It's not like you'd be called a child Fido or Whiskers.

EmmaCate · 12/06/2012 16:16

Like it a lot but obviously shortening to Tabby or Tab would be off limits, so perhaps would not be practical.

TequilaMockinBird · 12/06/2012 16:18

I think of the little girl out of the TV programme Bewitched. She used to wiggle her nose, very cute!

I love the name though, sounds feminine and pretty Smile

HipHopOpotomus · 12/06/2012 16:21

I loved it when I was about 11. Now it makes me wince - twee & frilly

StepOutOfSpring · 12/06/2012 16:36

A comical name for a cat.

YouFloatLikeAFeather · 12/06/2012 16:47

Think it's lovely.

Mechavivzilla · 12/06/2012 16:49

I love it. If DS had been a girl there is a high chance he would have been a Tabitha! I also think Tabby as a nickname is lovely. Stephen King's wife is a Tabitha.

slothprincess · 12/06/2012 16:50

I have a baby Tabitha and we get so many compliments on her name. I happen to love cats so don't mind the feline association at all! Grin

squoosh · 12/06/2012 16:52

Interesting HipHop, I hate what I consider to be frilly girls names although Tabitha doesn't fall into that category for me. I think frilly when I hear Arabella, Clarissa, Felicity . . . .

Frilly seems to be a state of mind!

Sastra · 12/06/2012 17:04

I don't mind the cat connection ( but I also love Felix for a boy, so maybe this is revealing something about me...).

I also love Tabby and Tabs as nn.

It goes really well with our surname too (which is no mean feat) and DH doesn't hate it (which is no mean feat).

this makes me smile Sastra, Felix was also on our short list!

Susieloo · 12/06/2012 17:07

I love it, this is still my number one name if it's a girl, due in July, DP on the other hand will not entertain it at all, he can't get over the possibility of her nn being Tabby and therefore cat like. I don't think I'm going to be able to change his mind.

Rindercella · 12/06/2012 17:09

I quite like it. Makes me think of a twitchy nose. And then a cat.

Justfeckingdoit · 12/06/2012 17:10

Love it. Mind you I have come to realise that most of the names I like are characters from Jilly Cooper novels.

salt1 · 12/06/2012 17:11

love itx

StillSquiffy · 12/06/2012 17:13

Hugh Grant's DD has just been named Tabitha.
