Help with girls name shortlist :)

pinksmarties13 · 30/04/2012 21:21

Would be grateful for opinions on our names shortlist as DH and I are finding it too hard to pick a favourite. Four year old DS is Freddie Liam but this will be first baby girl. Names in no particular order are:

Poppy
Maisy
Blossom
Mabel
Lacey-May
Hope
Faith
Molly/Polly
Rosie
Ella
Millie

Any help in shortenning the shortlist would be much appreciated as would any middle name suggestions, ( Jasmine and Grace being possible considerations.)

Lacey-May= chavtastic
Mabel-don't do it to the poor child

bristolboop · 30/04/2012 21:32

Love Poppy and Ella, don't love the others

helptheresababyonmyleg · 30/04/2012 21:37

I love Poppy and Hope. Blossom not so much.
Mabel is okay. The rest are just a bit average.
What about Poppy Fiona / Poppy Charlotte / Poppy Alanna?

Purplehonesty · 30/04/2012 21:39

We have chosen Molly Kate for our dd if thats any help Smile

cityangel · 30/04/2012 21:40

I like the Erin suggestion. Then the Amelia one.

smearedinfood · 30/04/2012 22:01

I love Jasmine btw

welovesausagedogs · 30/04/2012 22:35

Love Poppy, Maisy and Rosie - don't really like any of the others.

I would probably go for Freddie and Rosie - just think it has a nice ring to it.

oikopolis · 30/04/2012 23:02

Poppy - nice
Maisy - a nickname for Mary/Margaret.
Blossom - ok
Mabel - ok
Lacey-May - truly, heinously awful. overly frilly and trendy sounding
Hope - nice
Faith - nice, a little dull.
Molly/Polly - a nickname for Mary/Margaret.
Rosie - a nickname. prefer Rose.
Ella - sort of boring really.
Millie - a nickname for Millicent/Emily/etc.

manicinsomniac · 30/04/2012 23:36

Poppy - it's ok, not keen
Maisy - very sweet and pretty
Blossom- not keen
Mabel - dislike
Lacey-May - Lacey is pretty. The whole thing is rather a mouthful
Hope - it's ok
Faith - like it
Molly/Polly - like Molly but not Polly
Rosie - like it a lot
Ella - like it
Millie - it's ok

Maisy or Rosie would be my favourites from your list followed by Ella and Lacey on its own.

Middles - short name, long name combos:
Maisy Catherine
Rosie Miranda
Ella Francesca
Lacey Elizabeth
Maisy Samantha
Rosie Arabella
Ella Matilda
Lacey Amelia

Middles - short name, short name combos:
Maisy Jane
Rosie Anne
Ella Rose
Lacey Jane
Maisy Hope
Rosie Faith
Ella Grace
Lacey Beth

Lacey Jasmine or Lacey May

But not -May. It's a bit cute. If she is cutesy there is no reason not to call her Lacey-May, but hyphenating it leaves her stuck with it.

I know a couple of Tom boys called Grace and Daisy, lovely kids, but their names don't quite fit.

welovesausagedogs · 01/05/2012 07:45

Don't go for lacey - it's awful - and like other posters have said "chav-tastic".
You other name choices are much much nicer.

DustyDen · 01/05/2012 08:59

Really like: (+ middle name suggestions)
Rosie Eleanor
Ella Felicity
Poppy Elizabeth
Hope Genevieve
Faith Isabelle

poppy283 · 01/05/2012 09:14

Don't go with Rosie - pretty name but youdon't want a Fred and Rose (as in West)
I actually quite like Blossom!

pinksmarties13 · 01/05/2012 11:08

Thanks for all the replies :) I'd never thought of the Fred and Rose connection before, but I think it's definetly out now. I think it's safe to say Lacey-May is out too, I do love the name, but I can see it's got "chav," connotations.

I think it will probably be Poppy atm, my favourite and seems to be getting a lot of support on here.

Not to throw a spanner in the works but I love Lacey-may, it's lovely Wink makes me laugh all this chavtastic nonsense. If you love a name that's what matters. X

welovesausagedogs · 01/05/2012 11:57

Love Freddie and Poppy - they sound lovely together

Middle name ideas
Poppy Beatrice
Poppy Matilda
Poppy Honey
Poppy Rae
Poppy Violet
Poppy Amelia

Sorry it's a big NO to all, except Erin on the list, ( it's a poetic name for Ireland) When your baby is born, you may change your mind completely when you see her for the 1st time:)

ChippingInLovesEasterEggs · 04/05/2012 22:34

Poppy
Maisy
Blossom
Mabel
Lacey-May
Hope
Faith
Molly
Polly
Rosie
Ella
Millie

Maisy being my favourite.

Good Luck!

Hulababy · 04/05/2012 23:01

I like many of the names esp Poppy and Molly.
But I am biased. I have a Mollie :)

Molly/Mollie is a name in it's own right and has certainly been used as a name in its own right since the 1900s if not before. It did originate from Mary, as a pet form, and can be a nickname for Margaret too. But it is very much recognised as a proper name for many years now.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 04/05/2012 23:08

I like Hope best by a long way.
