Twinnie names - opinions please...

Hello all,

We are expecting twin girls and have finally decided on names after DH and I spending the last few months disagreeing (who knew it would be so hard!!). Sooo.... the names we have chosen are (no middle names yet):

Inés
Violet

DH is British and I'm French; we wanted a name from each nationality hence Inés as the more 'exotic' choice. Our DDs will have a long double-barrelled last name, do you think they will go well with these first names? (last name's initials are O-C). We also have an older DD called Olivia, if it makes any difference.

Anyway, your opinions would be much appreciated. Also suggestions for middle names would be great.

Thanks a lot!
Eva

Lovely and I think an exotic/French middle name for Violet and English one for Ines makes it perfect

mybootsaremuddy · 27/04/2012 19:29

How do you pronounce Inés is it Eye-nez/s or Ee-nez/s or another way?
It looks realy pretty written down and looks lovely with Violet. Agree with QOD re the middle names.

Evap00 · 27/04/2012 19:54

Thanks both! I really like QOD's idea re middle names too. Any good suggestions? Took so long to agree on the first names that I' scared to even bring up with DH the fact that these babies will also need middle names!

Inés would be pronounced as Ee-nes :)

Thanks again
Eva

I think Violet and Ines is the most beautiful combination, i love both those names, just a shame that your elder daughters name is not so unusual.

MrsLettuce · 27/04/2012 19:58

Beautiful and perfect!

Inés Rose

Violet Anaïs

hermionestranger · 27/04/2012 19:59

(contented sigh) gorgeous names!

What about Ines Rose and Violet Amalie?

EssentialFattyAcid · 27/04/2012 19:59

love mrs lettuce's suggestions

johnnycomelurky · 27/04/2012 20:01

welovesausagedogs no need to be rude about other daughter's name!

MrsLettuce great suggestions for middle names.

chocolatecoffinplease · 27/04/2012 20:28

Fabulous! :o

Evap00 · 27/04/2012 20:29

Thanks all for the nice comments and great suggestions, keep them coming!

Re older DD's name... Olivia wasn't that popular at all ten years ago when she was born, in fact we got some funny comments at the time about why we were chosing such a rare name! Amazing how things can change hey?

I love Inès but thought it usually had a grave accent, as in Inès de la Fressange?

Evap00 · 27/04/2012 22:26

thereistheball - that will be my phone autocorrect... ;)

Thats really funny how things change, i guess ten years ago Olivia wasn't that popular now it definitely is, there are 3 Olivia's in my four year old sons swimming class, i guess you were ahead of the times.

lisaro · 27/04/2012 22:40

Funnily - I read the names and thought 'urgh, they soo don't go'. But then I said them aloud and realised immediately they do. Lovely choices.

bringbacksideburns · 27/04/2012 22:55

Love them!

manicinsomniac · 27/04/2012 23:21

Both pretty names, I prefer Violet but that's probably just due to the unamiliarity of Ines.

Olivia hasn't been outside the top 10 since 1998! It's a lovely name (obviously or else it wouldn't be so popular!) but its popularity hasn't changed much at all.

workshy · 27/04/2012 23:26

I like Olivia and I have only ever come across 1 (and I've been a brownie leader for 12 years!!!)

love mrs lettuce's suggestions for middle names too :)

bramblina · 27/04/2012 23:30

Also love mrs lettuce's suggestions for middle names!!

SweetPea3 · 28/04/2012 08:46

Divine names - well done!

WopBopALooBop · 28/04/2012 12:50

Shock Olivia, Ines and Violet, what gorgeous names!!! Absolutely love. Not sure about middle names but just wanted to add, great choices Grin

Ihatepeas · 28/04/2012 13:03

I think they are gorgeous names, all of them!!

MrsLettuce · 28/04/2012 13:21

Olivia is a fantastic, classic name and I'm surprised at the negative (and frankly rude) comments about it on here.

Olivia, Violet and Inez are a perfect sib set.

PercyFilth · 28/04/2012 13:53

I don't see any rude comments. Have some posts been removed?

5madthings · 28/04/2012 14:10

lovely names!

i wanted my dd to be called Violet but dp wouldnt agree :(

hmm i am now trying to think of some middle names, if you were having boys i could provide many suggestions, but i really struggle with girls names!

MrsLettuce · 28/04/2012 14:40

Well, there was just one but I prefer not to get person Wink
