Two babies needing names!

Last week our three beautiful babies made a surprise entrance into this world and they could not be more gorgeous! As they thought we're now the very proud parents to two little boys and a girl. With our DD we just knew her name when we saw her and decided on Martha Hope Genevieve. With our boys though we're a bit stuck and it's horrible them not having names. DH likes Barney and Wilfred but I'm not sold. DSs need names so please throw anything at me!

Martha Noah and William is a fab combo!

yellowflowers · 26/03/2012 22:11

Calzone, Annabel, Clementine and Romilly are my three favourite girls names too.

welovesausagedogs · 26/03/2012 22:16

I love Percy, was my second favourite boys name to Herbie (my son's name) but with two girls and a boy we never got to use it.

nomoreminibreaks · 26/03/2012 22:22

Can I just nip in here and let you know there was a bad film a while back called 'Martha, meet Frank, Daniel and Lawrence'? I doubt anyone would remember it but worth mentioning!

zanp · 27/03/2012 14:13

Biased, as I have a Barney (Barnaby) Thomas so I love the name. If DD was a boy she was going to be Nate (Nathaniel). Also like Wilf as nn for Wilfred. Good luck with choosing and congrats!

birdofthenorth · 27/03/2012 14:29

Congratulations! Your DD's name is beautiful.

I really like Wilfred!

How about

Martha, Wilfred and Jonah
Martha, George and Ted (Edward)
Martha, Henry and Louis
Martha, Leo and Freddie

All's I can add is: not Arthur Grin

birdofthenorth · 27/03/2012 14:30

Percy is great btw! Martha, Wilfred and Percy. Awesome.

welovesausagedogs · 27/03/2012 14:34

Another vote for Martha, Wilfred (nn - fred or wilf) and percy. Love that combination

smokeybacon · 27/03/2012 14:39

I have 4 DS. Inc twins. Noah rufus freddie and tobias
You are welcome to use any of their names
Rufus and Tobias always get comments on how lovely their names are. Martha is a fab choice btw.
Do come back and let us know what you decide.

gentlydownthestream · 27/03/2012 21:20

I love Rufus, DH isn't having it though :(

Edwin/Edward are two which are currently strong contenders for DS1, which brings me onto the fact we have decided on Percy Alexander James for DS2. We are very close with DS1, it's between either Edwin or Edward, with middle names being Lawrence Jude.

So final question - Edwin or Edward? Both would end up with the same day to day nickname but is it better to go for more 'out there' or safe?

Edwin is nice and underused

oooggs · 27/03/2012 21:33

Percy & Edward I prefer, you could always use Thomas, Henry or Gordon if you have any more!!

Martha is lovely too. We named dt1 instantly (dd) but struggled with dt2 (ds2)

NunWithADirtyHabbit · 27/03/2012 21:36

I know you have chosen Percy (each to their own and all that) how about Perry which is a similar alternative - and imo much nicer. Love Martha and Edward - congratulations !!

tummytickler · 27/03/2012 21:36

Edwin is gorgeous! Congratulations. Percy is rather fabulous too!

welovesausagedogs · 27/03/2012 22:23

So glad you chose Percy, it's lovely.
I think Edward goes better with your other names, i just think it looks nicer and sound nicer than Edwin.

What about Edmund or Edgar

smother · 27/03/2012 23:00

ooh how lovely - Martha and Percy!

I felt prompted to add a comment because I feel strongly that Edwin is much much nicer name than Edward!! far more interesting and distinctive - a really fantastic name - can't get excited about Edward, and because it's quite dull, don't think it really goes with the fabulous Martha and Percy.

But I'm a random stranger so just go with what you think! I'm glad you went with your heart and went with Percy despite the nay-sayers!

BTW I think Rufus would be a mistake because one of the most wellknown marthas currently is martha wainright who is famously the sister of rufus wainright....

birdofthenorth · 28/03/2012 10:36

Edward Laurence Jude sounds fab. Martha, Percy and Edward are a fantastic combo. Hurrah for gently's little trio!

ElephantsAreMadeOfElements · 28/03/2012 10:56

Edward is nice but seems a bit 'safe' compared to Percy, so on paper I would go with Edwin (or Edmund). But then you actually have the babies to look like and perhaps the-one-who-isn't-Percy seems more like an Edward to you.

gentlydownthestream · 28/03/2012 18:38

Elephants, at the moment he's just Teddy as someone got him a little romper covered in teddies and it just fits (the name that is, not the romper..)
So really we just want a longer name to go with Teddy that we will probably use when he's older. We just can't decide which!

Martha, Percy and Edwin

Geranium3 · 28/03/2012 19:48

cONGRATULATIONS! Do buy "The owl babies" book when your babes are a little older,it's a delightful book with beautiful illustrations. Your ds percy will particularly enjoy it as one of the owl babies is called percy and the 2 others are sarah and bill in case you change your mind about martha and edward/edwin!!!

ElephantsAreMadeOfElements · 30/03/2012 18:01

There's also Theodore as a longer version of Teddy, if that appeals.
