We've decided to give DD due in June a Welsh middle name. DP is Welsh and we'd love to sort of honour that.

She's going to be called Rosalie and is also having Jean as a middle name.

We like Carys, Aerona, Rhiannon, Eilwen, Isolde, Ffion, Olwen.

We need some help picking and we'd love some other suggestions too.

Thanks.

Manon is pronounced exactly as the English, but with stress on the a, not the o. It is the best name

just to point out it's Sioned not Sionedd. Madlen is a lovely Welsh name. Girls names in Welsh are beautiful, boys not so (I managed to find a good one ;-) )

DS1 did the picking this afternoon. So DD is going to be Rosalie Jean Olwen. Now hunting down a little baby rugby shirt Grin

Oooh lovely Kayzr! I love this new trend for -wen names, they're so pretty. I also adore the name Jean or Jeannie... And Rosalie, for that matter! Yay! :)

madaboutmadmen I also had never heard of Sionedd but there's a MNer who knows of one and also gave her daughter that name. Pretty innit? I have never heard of Madlen, only Modlen- I'd be a bit anxious of people NNing her Mad... :o

Heulwyn isn't one I've heard- It's Heulwen for a girl (always -wen for a girl, -wyn for a boy).

OneLieIn Myfanwy is brilliant! Here, it would be shortnened to Myfi (pronounced Muvvy). :)

I really like Maeve and Dilys. Both Welsh I think. Smile

LisaJones1 · 19/03/2012 17:52

I love the names Nia, Rhiannon and Mai for girls and Iwan, Owain, Tomas, Steffan for boys. When I had my 1st I found Welsh Girls Names website really helpful as I allowed me to try different combination of names.

Good luck with the names
x

Maeve is Irish, there is an Irish spelling of it but I have no idea. it's Tomos rather Tomas too, Tomos is a lovely name.
