Ella as a sister for Ellie?

Somebody I know is expecting a DD. She already has a DD called Ellie but is adamant she is going to call DD2 Ella. Personally I am , just wondering (in no big way) what other people think. At the end of the day she can do what she likes of course. Ella is an ok name, it's just its similarity to Ellie that would make me steer away from it if it were me.

I would be inclined to agree with you. I wouldn't do it myself but I suppose it's her business. I think they are too similar and it shows a lack of imagination!

hell no. imagine calling them in for their tea! "Ell-Ellie!" "Ell-Ella!" you know that's how it goes... your brain gets stuck on one and then switches to the other

God this is just stupid. I work in a school where we have twins Rosemarie and Roseanne; and another unfortunate set of twins Victoria and Victorina. I kid you not. It's ridiculous.

Maybe she's just saying that to end name discussions that she doesn't realky want to be drawn into.

Too similar, but I think EdithWeston may be right :) Not everyone wants to discuss names with others in advance - too many opinions may not be helpful.

I hate where everyone has the same initial - how do you deal with someone else opening your private post in future years etc....

It's much better to chose distinguishable names with siblings. We have friends with two girls, Ellie and Lizzy, DH and I always spent several minutes before visiting trying to remember which is which.

I spotted b/g twins on another forum called Oliver and Olivia. Having said that mine both have the same initial and three letter names although they sound different from one another. I think it is quite a common thing with twins (people like them to be matching) but I wouldn't like to name older/younger siblings with similar names and not derivatives of the same name, far too confusing!

That is insane. Surely Ellie is a nickname for Ella? It's like having an Ollie and Oliver.
