After DH went stone cold on my favourite name Hugo, Oscar has now come back into the limelight. Your thoughts, good and bad would be welcomed.

I don't like Oscar or the nickname Ozzie at all, I'm afraid.

Hugo is much nicer.

Its lovely- was on my shortlist for ds. I'm in the north east and its not at all common round here.

"Unless you call your child something totally obscure or made up yes you will meet another child with that name"

There are A LOT of names that are neither 'popular' (say, in the top 50 or 100) nor 'obscure/made up'!

I live in London and our Oscar is the only one we know. I don't live in Hampstead, Stoke-Newington, or Queens Park though...

I believe that has been the most popular boys name in Brighton for the last few years (seem to remember reading in the local press)

and it is generally more popular in the South East generally (National Statistics break down by area)

so it depends on where you are as to how popular it is

if this matters to you - which it might not

(I really like it btw)
