What do you think of Dayna?

What do you think of Dayna as a girl's name? It's listed on Mumsnet's Baby Name Finder.

This is my DD name, we thought it was lovely and unusual...what do you think???

was just looking a different names on here...very random and realised my DD name doesn't appear....we love it and as a suggestion wondered

Dana is though, but not that nice either.

I quite like it, I also like Donna but not many people do and I'd never use.

I could never use Dayna as a name due to an reality show filmed nearby with a girl named Dayna as one of the lead characters.

I know the programme, and she was my first thought too!

I know of a programme with another Dayna but not a reality one maybe you should tell me of it and I can find and watch it...We actually named her as it meant in a name book we had celtic goddess of fertility and we waited 7.5years for her to come so her name is apt. I really don't mind if people don't like it just wondered!!!

She loves her name as do we and as she is only 3 any reality programme will have long been off the screens. I also remember Dayna Sculley - this however didn't put us off!!!

The programme was a BBC one, called "The Scheme." Caused a bit of a scandal at the time.

There is also no mistake in the pronounciation of her name. Spelling yes but pronounciation NO

Frankie I didn't mean it as an insult or that you'd named your DD after The Scheme! Read my post again, I LIKE the name (and the spelling) was just explaining why I could never use it (living here anyway)

No I didn't take your comments to heart please don't think I did. When we named her we did have people saying argh Dayna...umm...not sure!! Ha Ha.

My DH actually saw it on a number plate and that is how it all came about...NO offence taken honestly

Yes Scotland, The Scheme was filmed in the town I grew up in. Let me know if you need a translator! Although I think there were subtitles in some parts

And on recent threads I've seen my name and my 3 dc names all slated, who cares? It's all personal choice and what's meaningful to you at the time.
