Narrowed it down to two of each. They aren't too awful, are they?

Fingers crossed DC4 should be arriving in the next few days and we're hoping to have the name sorted for if it's a little girl or boy. The criteria is classic with a more useable nn. The girls' names we aren't feeling complete love for but it's hard to choose between they two choices we have for a boy. Anyway, enough rambling, what do you think of these?

Philip Colin Edward (nn Pip)
Alexander Colin Edward (nn Xander or Ali)

Flora Camilla (nn Flossie or Flo)
Isadora Audrey (nn Issy)

Middle names are all family names, although we are also considering using James and Joy. Our other DCs are Cosima, Rupert and Marnie.

Pip amd Issy for me. Lovely. Good luck!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 14/01/2012 22:14

Pip and Issy for me too but not sure Isadora Audrey quite 'works' although they are both fab names on their own.

Deadsouls · 14/01/2012 22:14

Xander and Flossie

PutThatCatOutNow · 14/01/2012 22:15

I'm thinking Isadora Joy might work better?

Isadora Joy is beautiful.

PutThatCatOutNow · 14/01/2012 22:27

At the moment Isadora is my favourite and Flora DH's. We both love both of the boys' names though.

JestersHat · 14/01/2012 22:32

Alexander or Issy.

humblehippo · 15/01/2012 11:27

I would pick Flora and Alexander

peggyblackett · 15/01/2012 11:28

Alexander and Isadora.

TidyDancer · 15/01/2012 11:31

The full names you have chosen are gorgeous. Pip as a NN is horrible IMO. It's too twee and cringy. Nothing wrong with Phil as a NN though, so there is a workable one there for me. Also Alex is a great NN for Alexander, much much nicer then Xander or Ali.

JestersHat · 15/01/2012 12:12

Agree with TidyDancer, Pip is quite twee and effeminate.

FetaCheeny · 15/01/2012 12:38

Love Isadora but really don't like Audrey.
Isadora Joy is lovely as is Isadora Camilla.
I actually think Camilla is beautiful as a first name but not keen on Flora.

Boys names are both are nice but Philip just sneaks it, Pip is cute for a little one.

notso · 15/01/2012 12:58

I like both your boy choices. I think Alexander fits with you other DC more but Philip is less common. I can see Alexander growing in poularity.

I don't think Isadora Audrey go together, too many a's and hate nn Issy I would go for nn Dora.
I like Flora (though DD's friend Flora is mostly called Butters) and I like Camilla, but again they don't work together for me.
I think Flora sounds best with your other DC names.
I have to say I would go back to the drawing board if I didn't completely love my choices.

PutThatCatOutNow · 15/01/2012 12:59

I do like the nn Phil and I expect that if we chose Philip then as a teenager/adult he would be Phil, however I think Pip is much cuter for a little one. Likewise I think Alex/Xander is what he would be as a teen/adult but Ali is much cuter for a baby.
I too love Camilla as a first name but we're using it to honour someone so it might be a bit strange to have it as a first name.

Alexander Colin Edward (nn Xander or Ali)
Isadora Audrey (nn Issy)

I like these two, not keen on others, especially Philip.

PercyFilth · 15/01/2012 14:44

Philip is refreshing, classic but not currently very common.

Like Isadora, but not with Audrey. Much better with Joy.

Not considered Alistair as there's only really the one good nn.

I love Xander and Flora, quite like Isadora but if you're going to use Issy as a nickname then because Isabel/Isabella etc are so popular at the moment she's going to end up as one of several Issys, which sort of defeats the object of going for something less common like Isadora. I'm not keen on Pip tbh, sorry.

PercyFilth · 15/01/2012 17:00

I once knew an Alasdair who was called Dair. (Or perhaps it was Dare)

shouldabeenwashedinajug · 15/01/2012 17:02

Xander and Flora

ragged · 15/01/2012 17:02

they are all nice :)

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 15/01/2012 17:06

The first names are all nice. I have never 'got' this MN notion of picking your child's nickname before you've met the child but, that said, I think Pip for Philip is great and certainly better than Phil.

OriginalJamie · 15/01/2012 18:01

I like both boys names. I don't like Pip or Phil though. Philip will be much more unusual.

I don't really like either girls' name, but I do like Audrey
