With a c its classier

nomoreminibreaks · 12/01/2012 18:32

With a K it's the same as one of the playboy twins on celebrity big brother. So I prefer C too.

Not that I watch it of course...Blush

lisaro · 12/01/2012 18:33

Don't like it, it doesn't sound like a 'real' name.

meditrina · 12/01/2012 18:34

With a "k"

Carissa looks as if you've missed a letter out of Clarissa.

Sparklingbrook · 12/01/2012 18:34

With a C.

Marinn · 12/01/2012 18:41

I agree C is usually better when there's a choice eg Ceira or Keira etc.

But I think K actually looks better for some reason on Karissa but i'm desperate to avoid 'chav/common' whatever the word to use is.

My own name is terrible - much more stripper than solicitor and I want to avoid that in a name

With a C is definitely better (looks less like a made up name and closer to Clarissa), although the only Karissa I know is VERY chavvy. Sorry.

SoupDragon · 12/01/2012 18:54

C I think.

fivefoottwowitheyesofblue · 12/01/2012 18:57

With a C. As HotPink said it looks less like a made up name.

The name is ok - doesn't offend me but it doesn't really wow me either.

civilfawlty · 12/01/2012 19:09

With a C for sure. And an L ideally.

xxcozxx · 13/01/2012 01:27

I wont say anything bitchy, though i think lots of people may...love karissa...many prob find it chavvy but have baby on my knee and cant get into much detail ;)

GoingForGoalWeight · 13/01/2012 01:33

Neither for me, sorry:) common. IMHO .

JestersHat · 13/01/2012 09:33

With a C. (K is too Kardashian!)

Agree that many people might think you've said Clarissa - is this a name you'd consider?

BarryShitpeas · 13/01/2012 09:38

Carys is nice.

Marinn · 13/01/2012 10:49

Thanks for the replies, I think enough people have said common for me to be put off.

I wanted to use Katerina but can't for various reasons and was looking for something as nice with the same feel but I don't think Carissa is right.

Clarissa is nice but feels a bit prim, maybe Larissa?

Anyway thanks for your help.

Carina, Coralie, Christina, Catriona?

Larissa is very pretty, and I like the nickname Lara.

alarkaspree · 13/01/2012 11:28

How about Camilla? That's beautiful. Clarissa does sound like, I don't know, a lot to live up to somehow.

LittlePandaBear · 13/01/2012 11:30

I have a Marissa and love it.

JestersHat · 13/01/2012 11:44

Melissa, Marina, Clara?

GoingForGoalWeight · 13/01/2012 13:08

Katreya?

MrsJohnDeere · 13/01/2012 13:44

Sounds made up to me and I don't like it at all (which doesn't matter in the slightest). Less bad with C than K, I think.

ReneeVivien · 13/01/2012 13:51

I prefer Larissa and Marissa.

Carissa better than Karissa.

BloooCowWonders · 13/01/2012 13:59

Isn't it quite close to the Welsh name Carys? (sorry if not spelled right) Would that be an option?
Afraid I don't like either of your original names.

BlueChampagne · 13/01/2012 14:02

Charis? It's Greek for Grace.

Ephiny · 13/01/2012 14:04

I prefer it with a C. I knew a girl at school called Charissa, I guess that's another variant?

Katherine, Kerenza, Keira, if you like K names? Larissa/Marissa are lovely too.
